  i cant help but think some of you guys are just tooooo angry for your past hurts.. weve all got terrible stories which can make us cry, but whats the motivation for such bitterness ?.

  some people search out pervets, seemingly to lay these scumbags and their faults at the societys door.. others try to use thier bad times as an excuse to rubbish the entire religion.. i am not saying that jws are great, or that the society is perfect or undeserving of punishment.. but why are we not trying to even up the good points of the religion.. no smoking, no drugs, no abortion, on and on, and on.. and then try to remember the good times you all had at the meetings.

  And the JWs are a cult. A dangerous, divisive cult which destroys. And even though some religions have at one time or another been destructive, most by this age are reformed and are liberal organizations that attempt to lead. Lead! Big difference in being led as against being driven. And the WT drives, it never leads.

  I could give examples of how Hitler and the Nazis improved German life too for a time. But overall, the Nazis were scum. Same with the JWs.

  You're damn right. Quickies in an alley accomplish the prime directive, but it's still a quickie. Under those circumstances, I feel it would be appropriate to go to dinner after.

  Did I mention that dressing rooms in some of the better department stores often afford a convenient, safe, and inexpensive place to, um, get to know one another?

  My favorite is the Bass Pro Shop/Outdoor World dressing room. Full doors. None of those half-door things. Spacious. Avoid K-Marts, Wal-Marts, and other -Marts. Low rent. Upscale places are better. Neiman-Marcus, Richs, Abercrombie & Fitch. you know the places.

  Have a good one.

  MOMMY!! ATTENTION! One of the better assemblies in which participation in this grand grousing in the goodie game was played was in Asheville, NC in 1967. Still remember her name. Another was in Chattanooga, TN earlier that year. The crem de la crem, however, was a winter circuit assembly in Gatlinburg, TN. Had a fancy private room lined with hand-rubbed natural wood paneling. In-room fireplace provided the only light, and was proof against the bone-chilling cold and two feet of unexpected snow that night; the large dry slow-motion flakes that caught in her hair after as we cooled off on the deck overlooking the small brook laughing and tumbling down the hill beneath the full moon. Brought my own wine, a nice Rosthchild 1957 with Caspian Sea Beluga Caviar and water wafers. It was wonderful. OH to be twenty again.

  Who are these elders???

  having only started to study with a jw she has yet to inform me of these elders, the book she gave me says a little, but after reading this board i see there is more i have yet to learn.

  who are these elders?

  i'm picturing a bunch of old men in velvet purple robes sitting around a circular table.

  Elders?

  One of my favorite topics.

  Supposedly, elders are the spiritually wise ones in the congregation. Wise, compassionate, empathetic. They are to act in many roles: leader of the door-to-door work; marriage counselors; spiritual advisors; and public speakers par excellence.

  However, in reality here's what elders really are. They get to their positions of leadership in the congregation via two and only two methods, at which they must excell - at both. One won't do.

  First, they must agree with each and every word issuing from the governing body in New York. Every word without question, without reserve, without any shadow of independant thinking. These men revel in referring to themselves as god's "glorious ones." Humble. Did I mention humble?

  Secondly, they must have shown their expertise in the door-to-door work. That is, they must get in at least ten hours a month and preferrably more than that. Much more than that. And they must have something to show for it: book studies (notice I didn't say bible studies. JWs don't study the bible. They study books published by the Watchtower organization.) Return visits by the bushel.

  In short, these guys are little more than lock-step automations. And they've got all the compassion of a brick. Mainly they busy themselves prying into the private lives of congregation members. How much do you drink? What kind of sex are you having? What TV programs do you watch; books you read; movies you see?

  If your marriage is in trouble and you're the woman, they want to know one thing: what did you do wrong? It's YOUR fault, whatever it is.

  They're supposed to be the "servants" in the congregation. Servants. Right. They serve themselves by their public moral preening and their self-congratulatory behavior.

  These strutting banty roosters lord it over the congregation like the psychopaths they are. Quite a few are pederasts. All of 'em are jackasses. Their wives are plainly unbearable. Their children should be boxed up and shipped to deepest, darkest Africa. Little hellions.

  You don't really want to get to know them. They're really bad people: bad breath, B.O., mis-matched socks, they've got it all. Stay away from 'em, they're trouble.

  Tragic Accident

  were killed in a car accident.

  they were on the way back from a graduation.

  Yes, the JWs have been instrumental in fine-tuning the first amendment. Naturally. It's that part of the constitution behind which they cower; it's indespensible to them. Masquerading as a religion behind the first amendment while they rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate and publishing transactions is a brilliant scam.

  I might also point out that the fifth amendment was honed to its present condition via its use by the likes of Carlo Gambino, Al Capone, Frank Nitti, and others of their ilk. That doesn't make them anything but what they were: murderous, savage bastards.

  And the JWs are still a cult, no matter what they've done for the understanding of the first amendment.

  Frankly, I think it's a shame that first amendment rights are bastardized by that despicable cult.

  Kent, not all Americans are rednecks. Nor are all Americans "fucked up." You are painting with a mighty wide brush there, Ace. Stereotyping is the formal referent. And it's pretty ugly wherever you're aiming it.

  Not all Americans are concerned with political correctness. You hear so much about it because the American media has betrayed its charter, its reason for being. Far from being the independent "fourth estate" keeping the people informed about the predations upon its freedoms by a grasping federal government, it has become the chief cheerleader for the government and for the leftists in the body politic of this country who are leading us into socialism certainly, communism likely. You just can't believe the representations of Dan Rather and his ilk.

  And Hollywood doesn't let the truth get in the way of a good story. It's not a good idea to get your ideas about people from their perpetuation of stereotypes. Anytime Hollywood wants to depict a dumbass in a movie, for example, they usually give them a southern accent. The south has no monopoly on stupidity.

  Perhaps you could give these points some consideration before whipping out that wide, wide brush you're using.
