with a possible fall out in the financial area, the watchtower "could" (probaly won't) be in for some hard financial times.. with all the new fancy building, printing presses, halls etc, etc, etc.. now, i haven't been to a meeting in 15 years, i don't remember back then, but is there "an unwritten rule" (10% of your check) about how much money you should give to the wts.

i got a phone call last night from the po in my old congregation.
i haven't attended in 2 years now.
anyway, the po asked if they could meet with me and i said no.
No way in hell I would have sat there on the phone and gone through that. What arrogance. I would have made it hard for them, just like they made life hard for me.

i'm getting near 68 and i can't do the things i used to do without some pain.. yesterday i worked on the lawn mower and i had to lift it onto the pinic table, wow!
i didn't know they made them so much heavier now.. today i'm replacing the brake pads on my 4x4 truck.
my back just won't hold up long enough to finish both wheels.

Yes, I'm lucky to be here at all. About 60% of people who fall 20 feet die. I don't know how I survived. I was aware, while lying there on the ground waiting for the helicopter, that if I wanted, I could just give up and let slip the ghost right there and it would be all over for this life. But, I didn't.
I has taken four years to recover to the point where I am now. I don't limp any more, and I can unscrew the lid on the mayo jar now. But I'm on 150 mcg fentanyl around the clock. That stuff is expensive, and when I turn into a ward of the federal insurance program who is going to buy that stuff? It costs $1,200/month. And it's 50 times more powerful than heroin. Getting off that should be great fun.

we were talking and suddenly he asked me if i thought satan could read my mind.
and he said "yeah i though the answer was yes and then i found out that satan cant read my mind".

I stand on Genesis each time I can't reach stuff on top of the refrigerator. I just whip out my NWT which is just high enough for me to reach what I want.

What you say is true as far as it goes, it just doesn't go far enough. If that were the only motivation, relationships would last about 30 minutes.
The self-abnegation, the altruism, seeking the happiness of the other rather than the self, these things are not inherent, instinctual behaviors, they very much are vastly higher. You reductionist, deterministic old foggies don't know what you're missing. You can't measure the smell of her hair; or the feel of her as she snuggles up to you for warmth on a cold winter night as Orion rises in the freezing eastern sky. You can't reduce her smile to merely the movement of muscles, and you miss totally how the peal of her laughter so much resembles the ring of carillon bells at Vespers. And you don't, can't, carry her perfume in your mustache keeping you thinking of her all day long. See? You've awakened the poet. Now I'll have to drug him into sleep.
