  the watchtower society omitted the following scriptures from their new world translation bible without a footnote explanation to readers explaining the reason of omission.

  here are the missing scriptures - i'am referring only to the ones i know - there may be more: .

  So, when you get right down to it, you can't say with any degree of certainty that ANY of the scriptures, picked at random, are in the original holograph. This leaves those who depend on the bible for guidance kind of up in the air, don't it? And saying that you THINK it must have been in the original really doesn't cut any ice, does it?

  The contents of the bible, then, is another article among so many that must be taken on faith. I prefer Occam's principle: the simplest approach or explanation is likely to be the correct explanation. Such application leaves me thinking that all the numerology, all the guesswork about "the end," all the tugging and pushing and pulling to make some date correspond to a preconceived notion produces nothing but an ill-informed guess.

  Much simpler to observe our compliance with The Master's two commands. I'm sure you know what they are, AND that they were given to us in service of the invitation/command of The Master "Be you perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect." Simple.

  Or put another way "Be you creature perfect as your Father in heaven is deity perfect." Works for me.

  We helped a boy in a car crash last night...made us think about things

  last night we were coming home from a night of dancing,and came upon a really bad wreck, a young man, had flipped his jeep, several times and his car was on fire.

  we must have just missed the wreck, because there were two cars there that saw it and they didnt know what to do......i told my hubby as we stopped to see if anyone had called 911 yet, and asked him to ask if anyone needed first aid.

  i am not in the medical field but i know enough first aid to help until the emt arrived.

  Jeff, that's cause young people are still immortal. I remember what it was like, being immortal 'n' all. It's a scary thing when you come around and realize you're not, and start reviewing all the things that could've gotten you killed in your "immortal" phase.

  the concept of the trinity does not teach that the father is the son.

  Um, and don't forget to apply that to current religious philosophy.

  Why did God tolerate slaves?

  in the past, people had male and female slaves as shown below:.

  exodus 21:20 when a slaveowner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished.

  but if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner's property.. why did god tolerate this?

  I think slavery originally resulted from warefare between tribes. Suvivors were taken and forced into slavery.

  The fact that it was tolerated by God is just another indication that Jehovah was a Bronze Age God made in the likeness of the Bronze Age people who worshipped him and made him up. And this God they made up didn't like them worshipping the Golden Calf. Likely there was some competition between the priests of the old calf god and the new jehovah god and the truth will never be known.

  All I know for sure is that I ain't worshipping no Bronze Age God.

  i know some have posted similar topics like this, but i thought it might be kind of fun (for the new ones that are coming here in droves) and others, to give some examples of catch phrases etc, that are unique to the jw world.

  here's a few to start:.... "muster up boldness", "sound down into our hearts","satan's crafty acts", "paradisaic", "young ones"," discernment".....these are just a few of the more irritating.

  i started my new job at the chaplain's school today, working in combat development as the training nco.

  What do the British think of Camilla Parker Bowles?

  i saw on the news this morning that the queen has invited camilla to a westminster abbey service to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the queen's coronation.

  from what i heard this is a major deal.

  i know 2 people that are from england.

  Camilla does so look like a horse. However, if you've seen pictures of her when she was a teen, they display a pretty good looking young woman.

  And they ARE inbred.

  Beauty may only be skin deep, but UGLY goes down all the way to the BONE

  Otherwise, Jeez, look at what those two have survived and still come up holding hands. They seem more dedicated to making their relationship work for them than most marriages I know anything about. Let them have each other, fer chrissake. I don't believe in getting between two people who are prepared to take on the world in favor of each other.

  LETTER FROM MY DAUGHTER.... NEED YOUR OPINIONS

  okay guys, i need your opinion.

  my 13 year old daughter was pretty close to my jw parents when we left.

  i cut off ties last year because of my mom's intrusive behaviour with my daughter.

  I would have to join the others here who advised you "not only no, but HELL NO."

  Your mother is a clear and present danger to your dauther's emotional make up. You've made that clear - and to yours as well.

  Would you let her try heroin?
  Go on a train trip by herself across country?
  Hang out with known criminals?

  Or any other of a hundred other dangerous things? You know I miss my grandfather too. He died when I was 18, and the first thing I want to do after this life is find him and spend lots of time in his presence. But, you know what?, no matter how many times I ask, no matter how many tears I may shed, no matter the urgency of my prayers, my Father will not resurrect my grandfather for me for just an hour. He has certain rules about when resurrection will occur and he won't change them for me. And also I'm stretching this analogy to the snapping point, it's the same with your daugher. Why run the risk of putting her in harm's way?

  Saw your name and thought I'd just poke my head into this thread to say that Aztec is one of my favorite books as well. I bought Aztec Autum but I don't remember getting very far into it. Most of it was written after Gary Jennings death.

  If you haven't read his The Journeyer you're missing a book at least as good as Aztec - also by Jennings. It's about Marco Polo.
