did the watchtower society give you your personality?a good friend of mine on the discussion board had this conversation .

The part that they did influence was one of looking everything and everyone with suspicion for years after leaving. In fact it took rather shocking events in my life recently to just relax and allow people to come closer without me putting up protective buffer in front of me to avoid being hurt again.

How many happy JW marriages do you know of?

just reading frequent flyer miles on the subject of feeling guilty for having a happy marriage with a non-jw.. in our congregation which i haven't attended for about a year, i can only think of two or three who seem to be happy.

of course, i don't know what happens behind closed doors, but i know of several who admit they are unhappy.

i wrote out a long list of couples who have divorced over the last 20 years--including three elders (one is on his second divorce).

Few but not many, seems like many witnesses rush into a marriage and then latter scratch behind their ears about what they have to live with. Witness marriages are no more thought through before the plunge than a farmer thinks about buying a cow or a bull. Sad to say but true.

What's the main purpose to the out of town Assemblies?

with all the meetings jw's attend each week, why do they need a district assembly or circuit assembly?.

is it to show how big the organization is or is it just to baptize a few.. couldn't this be done staying in their home town.

is there a financial advantage to the watchtower to have these assemblies out of town ?.

First and foremost they look at the bottomline and where they will get greatest return on investment. Like any other business they also keep count of their expendable resources. For watchtower it is their people who will pick up the bill and humbly obey, then when they are not needed bend over and gratefully receive kick in the butt. I don't think there is any business other than in places with legitimized slavery where those in charge enjoyed such an easy ride.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

that was funny, actually everything was funny. I think it was Gandhi who once exclaimed "It takes the whole planet to feed Britain, how many planets does it take to feed India?" lol.

It is very easy to fall into the thinking that our problems are the greatest in the world and fail to see how many decent people suffer in other places or live on about 1% a day of what we throw in a garbage bin.

Are UFOs Fact or Fiction?

are ufos fact or fiction?

recalling my days as a jehovahs witness i recall the watchtower society or jehovahs .

witnesses explaining away the phenomena of unidentified flying objects as something .

Wanderer I used to wonder about these question before but what occurs to me is that people claim that UFO sightings have been around for centuries. It is really hard to understand why on earth would some advance civilization undertake reconnaissance mission that would last centuries. What for? What would be the reason for it? They would have seen everything from Egypt to today and didn't do a thing to make real contact with humans.

There's gotta be another explanation. I remember as a kid seeing this fire fall slowing going across the sky it was only years later that I learned of ball-lighting. In fact, I'd say I was lucky to see it because most people never see it in their life. Equally there could be other natural phenomenons we are yet to explain. Our mathematical models so far explain things that are everyday and predictable or at least occur with some degree of certainty but we don't really know what happens when different rare phenomena collide any more than we know what is going to happen precisely when two hurricanes collide and even that is a very simplistic explanation.

Higher education ban busting at the seems ?

i know of alot of brothers and sisters in my congregation deciding to get at least two years in.

some have certificates and regret it and are going back for mainly money reasons.. me i got a certificate in a area and i am going back to get a real degree.

preferably in a diffrent field.. what is it like where your at ?.

If the WTS really had "the Truth" they would have nothing to fear and everything to gain by having an educated membership.

I don't know if they even realize how shallow their teachings really are, on the second thought they can't see it. Every witness meeting is like hypnotizing session that dulls the mind and takes away that little of the brain matter they had
