New world transmutation

searching the new world translation transmutation and examining it with the king james has opened my eyes to a few things not that i didnt notice and wonder about these before, i did i just ignored it and trusted the faithfull and discreet slave driver at the time.. in john 5:4 of the king james bible it says- for an angel went down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.. in john 5:4 of the n.w.t it says 4-- absolutley nothing?

they left it blank probably because this doesnt fit in with the usual traditional bullcrud beliefs.. john 20:25 says- consequently the other disciples would say to him " we have seen the lord" but he said to them unless i see in his hands the print of the nails and stick my finger into the print of the nails and stick my hand into his side i will certainly not believe [ although centuries later we expect you all to believe without sticking anything anywhere- made up bit .

main point there though is wasnt jesus crucified on a torture stake.. thats funny i thought jesus had one nail put through his wrists.not two nails.. does anyone have any more evidence of alterations in the new world translation?

Not trying to be an apologist, but here is the note in my English Standard Version: "Some manuscripts insert, wholly or in part, waiting for the moving of the water; for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool, and stirred the water: whoever steped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had." My NASB contains their translation of the text in the body of the gospel, but marks it as probably not in the original writings. The Christian Standard Bible is similarly annotated. My NKJV has the text in question with no comments on it, NIV has the extended version as a footnote.

BTW, biblegateway.com allows you to compare translations on the screen. I think it also has information on the sources for the various translations. And there is usually a display on the bookstore shelf explaining which bibles are most word-for-word and which translated thought-for thought. Interesting information for me, and why I had several different books to check.

Elder visit, you guys are GOOD!

the half-hearted knock at the door (why yes, i do have a working doorbell) came as i was replacing a worn-out wall socket.

we were friendly and chatty and then i was asked what church i was going to now.

We were friendly and chatty and then I was asked what church I was going to now. I named it, explained that it is nondenominational, and offered a brochure they print called What We Believe. They wanted to know really, what denomination. I said it was very bible-based, that workshops and classes are widely available on various aspects of the bible. Of course they wouldn't touch it, even when I suggested that would offer more information for future conversations. they asked if that church has a door to door ministry. I said no, they do mission work locally and support other charities as well. "You mean like soup kitches?" I was asked. "Yes, and all the members share the message with their friends and invite them to the interesting services", I said.

We parried a bit more, I said that I was about three weeks behind in the Rev study and that I appreciate it as a history of the Witnessess as well as a comentary on Rev. The other brother commented that it was so up to date. Without batting an eye, I said yes, I liked the way the Witness history was updated in the newer editions. I think I saw a wince out of the corner of my eye.

Anyway, I couldn't have been so comfortable if I hadn't been soaking stuff up here. I wasn't trying to irritate, but neither was I willing to let misstatements stand. The Novemeber Awake is all about the bible, which was very helpful in my comments about the newer training I getting. Betcha I don't get a return visit....

But I admit that Brad Pitt finally almost looks interesting and Harrison Ford and Paul Newman are welcome on my front porch any time. Joanne Woodward too, dag nab it.

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - A woman accused of stabbing her husband with a fork during an argument at a restaurant has pleaded no contest to reduced charges of being drunk and disorderly.

Canton Township police and the Wayne County prosecutor's office had pressed a felonious assault case against Kelly Campbell-Baumgartner, despite her husband's objections.

But a county judge dismissed the felony charge, and Campbell-Baumgartner entered the plea Monday in exchange for the dismissal of a misdemeanour assault and battery charge.

The judge ordered her to pay $350 in fines.

William Baumgartner earlier denied he had been stabbed in the April incident and said he had no interest in pressing charges against his wife.

Homesick for the City by the Bay

it was bad enough watching monk (with quite a bit shot in oakland which doesn't help either) and mythbusters (they always show the sf skyline in the background) but the new shows on tv aren't helping, journeyman and now women's murder club coming up next, all set in san francisco.

i'm flying out to california on the 24th and hopefully i'll be able to visit the bay area, i'll be staying near sacramento.

can't wait.. josie.

If you happen into Stockton, would you have a bite of breakfast at Chuck's for me? Stop in to the Haggin Museum to see how the mummy is doing and look at the Eisenstadts. And pick up sone electronic goodies at Frys in Sac or the bay area. And click a radio on to KFOG in the bay area. And watch a bit of the silly folks on Good Day Sacramento. When the family gets to be too much, please tell them you have to see some folks in Jackson at the Rancheria, or just slip down to the Delta to watch a sunset. No need to go to the Fairfield assembly hall, but you could substitute a run up to the shops in Nevada City or Grass Valley.

And could you go to Santa Cruz for me? Drive up Highway One through Half Moon Bay, maybe stop at Filoli? And listen to KPIG and to KKUP, just for a bit? And then there are the restaurants i miss. Ahhh, shopping in the City. And then there are the friends, could I give you a list of friendly folks to hug for me?

I read this in class last night and realized that we never happened onto the verses about Jesus being for ALL when I was studying. Wonder why?

Also, I was given a list of bible proofs that Jesus is God. If anyone is interested, I will gladly post or send on, it only runs a page.

with the dollar devaluing, the real estate market in the usa tanking and the biggest growth in jws coming from the lower income areas, i'll bet they are in financial hurt.

bigger hurt than the protestants down the street, or the bottomless coffers of the roman catholics.. as the r and f ages, they realize that they must take any measures they can to provide for their "golden years" and are probably reducing donations.

and as the children leave the fold, they will be less likely to support mom and dad giving their estate to the fds.

I suspect that the retrenching of the Awake and WT are just the beginning of cost cutting measures. Of course these measures will be taken because of New Light, or the cost of keeping the lights on.

Anyone know how we can proove (or disprove) the money issue? That would be news for the newspapers to take an interest in.

Nutra -System ? Jenny Craig? Weight Watchers?????

ok i seriously need to drop this baby weight.

has anyone had good results from any of the three weight loss companies listed in my subject title?

i was thinking nutra -system but wondered how the food was.

I spend lots of time talking with obese and formerly obese folks. The consensus is that Weight Watchers does the best job of teaching new eating habits. The provided food plans are okay if you already know good nutrition and usually apply it. But they are in business to sell food, not to keep you from needing to buy it again and again. That said, if Seattle Sutton is available in your area, I understand their food is the tastiest.

I would still say WW has the best support and teaching plan. Many hospitals and health groups also offer nutritional support, and insurance can cover it.
