  Learning to give -- the value of traditional special days

  hey all,.

  last saturday, i gave a birthday party for my grandson who lives with me.

  it was the very first time that i had given a birthday party myself, although i have helped with a few in the past couple of years.. before the party, my best friend kept the birthday boy for a few hours.

  Glad to hear the birthday parties went well!!! You are absolutely right about the JWs. The majority are NOT givers. They say there is not a need to celebrate birthday's, mother\fathers days, christmas, valentines and any other holiday because you don't need a certain day to give gifts. According to them you can just do it on any day.

  However, I've never seen a JW just give a gift out of the blue. I use to do it a lot in the hopes of it catching on and the JWs would tease me and say I've created my own holidays. I'm the only sibling that has ever bought my dad a present in the past 30+ years of my mom becoming a JW, EVER! When I've tried to organize a day to celebrate our parents (this is when I was super active) in a holiday/BD neutral month, my siblings still refused to participate, saying that we would simply be celebrating mother\father's day on different day and that we trying to find a way to be like world.

  I agree that celebrating holidays when done correctly can teach a person how to be thoughtful and selfless, if even for a day. And it ensures that we all have a reminder to honor and/or give to the special people in our lives.

  The interior of your vehicle....how do you keep it?

  this subject may seem like fluff, but it really isn't.

  in the last 3 days i have been in 3 vehicles, where the floor was not visable, water bottles or garbage were accidently kicked out as i tried to get in.

  coffee cups belonging in the house were littered willy-nilly, the passenger seat was loaded with crap, and one vehicle actually held underwear of the persons love interest.

  There was this one pioneering couple at a neighboring congregation that met with our service group and volunteered to drive. I was put in their car group and their car smelled like throw-up and sour feet. From that point on I vowed to always keep my car clean.

  The foreign language circuits have for the most part been disbanded.

  This is not true in my area. Foreign language circuits are still around. Even the small language groups are going strong and traveling to meet with the rest of their circuit for small circuit assemblies.

  it is said that jehovah's witnesses will learn about "oral sex" again in the next watchtower study although i do not know well.. i think that the governing body is really foolish.. why do 3 years old children need to study such an obscene word with adults?.

  Just thought of something. Most JW kids don't know what oral sex is, so they will be googling away. Once they see a few pics and videos...thats it.

  For some reason I thought it was hilarious. I have missed flights before, including international flights, it is enough to make you want to freak out especially if you already checked your luggage.

  Has anyone here met or spoken to a Mexican JW?

  if so, has the subject of the mexican 'ban' or bribery issue been discussed?.

  i wonder what older mexican jw's thought about the situation they were in and whether they could see through the farce.. if any group of witnesses could have cause to doubt, it would be them but they seem to be increasing.. .

  has anyone here actually discussed this with someone who lived through this period of jwism?.

  Are you kidding me? They start dialing their cellphone while you're still talking to them. And they spread very hurtfull things too. It very rare for them to stop to ask "Is this true?" And the stuff that true, you have to keep it hush-hush.
