i was a regular taxi for alot of people.. we (wife & family) pick up one sister and her 2 children for many years ...he husband had walked out on her and we did'nt mind.. however when we were asked by the cobe wife to pick up and elderly and infermed bro a 3 day assembly (we had 3 young children) i said no.. we pased her and her daughter traviling alone to the assembly.. .
My mom used to pick people up for the meeting pretty regularly. I never remember her complaining about it and kind of enjoyed it I think. When my dad started studying, we stopped picking people up until dad got asked by a brother if he would mind and turned out he loved doing it too. We always had nice cars and a little extra gas was not a hard ship for our family. We never picked up families because our car was already pretty full with us to begin with (Dad hates little kids anyway)
My best memory is this one. We were getting ready to move across the country and the cars had been sent ahead so we were using a rental minivan. At the last minute we got a frantic call from another brother, his car had broken down and he was supposed to pick up an older sister, could we help out. No problem, off we headed and found the older sister standing in front of her assisted living apartment with her crutches. She had bad hips and a had a very hard time moving. So we are all standing on the curb, looking from the sister to the van and wondering how on earth we are going to get her up into it. My dad, a very handsome man, blushes beet red and says to the sister "well, there is only one thing to do" bends down and wraps his arms around her torso and sets her gently on the front seat. The sister, grinning broadly, says some thing along the lines of that was the best thing to happen to her in a long time and we head to the kingdom hall.
One thing drilled into me over the years was to at least offer gas money. Some people wouldn't take it no matter what so I used to drop it into the cup holder or into the service bag. Even now, if someone drives me somewhere, I try to buy them a drink or something in appreciation.

if i understand it correctly, strollers are not allowed at us conventions.. in sweden, a letter was written to the congregation, introducing this new rule.
however, quite a few families wrote letters to the society,.
asking if they wanted families with children to attend the assemblies or not... it was stated that they would not go unless strollers were allowed.. the society pulled back, allowing strollers in designated areas.. in norway, they didn t even bother to introduce the rule in the first place... .
Pushing a baby anywhere is dangerous. Cars running red lights, stupid people at the mall, and a fall down a flight of stairs (neighbours child not mine)
Carrying a baby is dangerous too. How many parents have slipped while carrying a child and fallen?
Everything has risks, you weight the risks and make a choice.

HI!~
i don't know how or why, but this morning i woke up and did not vomit!!!!!!!!
i'm keeping my fingers crossed but could i finally be getting some relief????
.
I found changing prenatal vitamins helped and with my third pregnancy I took them in the evening with supper, I found a lot less nausea that way. With my first, I would wake up NOT SIT UP and eat a couple of saltines. That seemed to help as well.
If all else fails, it's all over in 40 weeks anyway!
Congrats!

i'm outside in the 90 heat doing landscaping with my neighbor/ friend.
two women in dresses, nylons, and heels walked carefully across the newly tilled dirt to get to us and start their presentation.. woman 1: we are talking with your neighbors about the increase in crime lately.
do you worry about your safety?.
You and your neighbour are my new heros!!!! I might be laughing about this for days to come.

published on monday july 02, 2012. vicki boer sued the canadian jehovah's witnesses over 10 years ago over the way they handled her complaint of sexual abuse.
she won but was burdened with heavy legal costs.
I hope this opens the eyes of many who don't want to believe this happens "in my congregation".

so it does not seem like im dealing very well.
its been 6 month since we have stopped going to the meeting.
embarssing in front of co-worker and my new supervisor.
Hang in there baby! lots of great advice from everyone and follow up with your doctor. With the amount of stress you are under and having a baby, you might need a happy pill for a bit. I finally admitted I needed help after my second son, took a pill for six months and then weaned off it. Sometimes it is just as simple as a chemical imbalance and time needed to think some stuff thru.
On a personal note: I was very surprised when I finally told my non JW family I was out. They welcomed me with open arms and made it so much easier.

so my husband and i have a son who will be 2 years old next month and i really wanted him to be socialized more.
ever since we stopped going to meetings, we have been pretty much shunned even though there has never been an "official" reason for it (df, da..).
i am terribly introverted, so it's difficult for me to get out there and talk to people but our son is a people-person and i wanted him to have more peers to be around.
You are a great mom for wanting what's best for your son!!!
Where we live there are tons of community based activities to go to. If you can't find anything online or anyone to call for information, next time you're in a children's store ask the cashier or approach another parent. Generally I find other parents more than happy to help. I know it sounds scary to ask strangers but it is a lot easier than going in service and the more you do it the better.
Bobbi
how many of you have ever worked on a quick build?
here's a good one.
i am a professional pencil pusher by nature.....but many years ago i decided i would volunteer at quick builds so i could help "build a house for jehovah".
"I like Bobbi found menial kitchen or sweeping up tasks then dropped them after half an hour and went for another walk . lol"
@Jemba
I never did this, when I was assigned to a task, I did it. I was never a "corridor cutie" at conventions or a "quick build quickie" only there to flirt with the boys. I worked my ass off and did a good job too. Maybe no one taught you that the Menial Tasks are just as important as all the others.
