there were gasps after watching this.

i heard the anti college talks at the dc this year, and while many people i know didnt agree with them, this following video stunned many of them.

there are many people on this forum, many have gotten to where they are many different ways.

I don't know italian but i know spanish and the subtitles are correct....as much as the organization has been spewing out thiss bull for such a long time, how many people are really buying into it??? All the kids in my old congo able to afford a higher education have gone to get one or are in the process......elders kids, ms kids, etc etc.......

so who is listening out there to this???? and if they are really taking what this guy says at face value then not only is this man an idiot but the ones listening to him are!!!!! i mean, cmon, in this day and age,,jw or not, if you had the opportunity to send your kids to college why the hell wouldn't you...even if you heard crap like this daily????

My point is...everyone is responsable here!!! whoever lsitens to a talk like this and doesn't disregard the nonesense..i mean, that illustration about the young guy shooting himself would have made me want to laugh out loud in a convention..even as an active witness.....People choose to swallow the bs or they choose to ignore it and send their kids to college anyways.....

oh yeah, and i{m setting a college fund for my kids right now and they are still in elementary......

i don't mean the ones we know about already - things people wouldn't think you did or enjoyed to look at you.. i love watching ray mears extreme survival and learning about how to survive and find food and shelter in extreme climates even though there is a strong possibility that i shall never try and escape naked from a japanese prisoner of war camp, or crash without a flagon of water into the sahara, or come stuck in my ship in a freezing ice plateau in deepest antartica.

Getting the forum back on track

recently we seem to have had a few different dramas and subsequent fallout on the fourm which i feel has detracted from its purpose.

with this in mind we have decided that we need to bring the forum back on track and as such we will be clamping down on a lot of the aggressive / insulting posts which have begun to become the norm for a few people.

we will also be clamping down on the paranoid assusation type of comments against newbies, if someone joins the fourm and you do not believe everything they post - so what, why do we need to hound them away with shouts of troll and fake etc, just ignore them if you dont beleive them.

yeah I usually avoid the drama threads as well..thank god!!! But I think it{s a great idea about not allowing any money donations and asking for money on the forum. While there are probably genuine needs out there, There are alot of people on this forum who could be taken advantage of.....It{s really a protection for them. If you need help, don{t ask on the net..I think that{s a bit tacky myself.....

Thanks too all for the encouragement. I am enjoying things while it lasts but sometimes that is difficult for me because (and I don´t know if this has to do with being a jw before) but there was always a goal to dating. You know, marraige, serious relationship..So it´s kind of hard for me not be constantly analyzing and seeing where it´s heading.....But i am not looking for another marraige right now...The last one was pretty traumatic to say the least so it´s not something I´m unning towards...

And Joannadandy thanks for the compliment. My kids are the most important thing in my life and I really love being a mom...I mean i like my job and other stuff too, but the satisfaction that comes from seeing my kids grow into secure moral ethical creative kids overrides anything else in my life.

Any interesting wildlife where you live?

i never used to see much for interesting wildlife until i moved into my house 3 years ago.

i've seen some neat stuff.

there's lots of woodpeckers around here.

well we have llamas, alapacas, vicuñas, cows ,pigs ,chickens ,all kinds of birds including condors, horses, mules, donkeys...I mean I don´t know if that is necesaarily wildlife...but those are around here..

Did the WT Discourage Platonic Friendships Between Men & Women ?

my wife and i have discussed this before , and it has been an education for me getting out of the jehovah's witnesses over 4 years ago to see the difference in how witnesses and non-witnesses view this subject .

my wife before we met had some guy friends who she had non sexual friendships with and she was amazed when we first started dating when i told her how strict the witnesses were on men and women hanging out together alone just as friends , and that when i was a witness i never did that - at the risk of being falsely dragged before a committee if i was found in public alone with a witness woman !

my wife was amazed at the lack of trust that the elders had in each one of us as rank and file members !

well I always had some good male friends when I was a teenager in the org..In fact it seems I always had at least one best friend who was a guy. I went to concerts with him and we hung out all the time. In fact the only time the line was drawn was when we wanted to drive up to atlanta together alone. My mom was fine with it but his mom pitched a fit....But then again i had a liberal mom and I was pretty discreet about who i hung out with. I think my mom was just happy I had a friend in the organization. There were always rumors about us being a couple etc...but we knew it was false so it didn´t bother me. Never got any advice on it either from the elders...But we went to different halls. And we used to hang out together late..Like eating at denny´s at 3 am after a concert....But I guess know one really knew except our parents and they trusted us.. Which is right because nothing ever happened between us......

Sorry I didn´t respond earlier. I just got a chance to sit at the computer. Well I think all of you brought out great points. Joannadandy I think hit the nail on the head about giving it time and making sure it´s not some rebound relationship.

If it was just me alone things would be a whole different story. But because i have children and I consider them my priority and I most definately agree with burn the ships. I also don´t really think a 25 year old (no matter how mature) can deal with older children. There is a reason that people have babies that grow into toddlers and into bigger children and then adolescents. It´s a natural process and as a parent you grow with them or learn how to deal with them. But I think it´s incredibly hard to deal with a child all of a sudden out of nothing..No history before etc...That´s my greatest dilema. And as much as I have a great connection and he is a great guy I believe in the end that will be a deal breaker. I will enjoy the time while it lasts as R Crusoe said. After all, like the Annie Hall film at the end where woody allen says basically that it was worth knowing Annie even though in the end nothing became of it...
