Very good points in these posts. I wish more witnesses would do some "reasoning on the scriptures," as they're always telling others to do.

it is impossible to abstain from blood and live!
the watchtower society's unusual interpretation of abstaining from blood to include human blood transfusion has several major flaws.
we can't abstain from blood.

i have very lucid dreams.
i can remember them very clearly.. last night i dreamed that i was attending a jw district convention as an incognito apostate informant, and i was on the cell phone talking to someone who was describing to me what hawkaw looked like so i could have a meeting with him.. anyone else have weird dreams like that?.
(and, hawkaw, i don't know why my brain picked you... lol)
When I first stopped attending meetings about 6 years ago, I was still a believer. One vivid dream that I still remember was attending a rodeo. It was the saddle bronc event. I can remember the horse, brown and white. The rider fell and got his foot caught in the stirrup. The horse was stomping on him. I stood up and yelled out, "Jehovah, please save him." Those sitting around me just stared, but the rider was alright. I remember waking up and feeling relieved and saying to myself..well, at least I still believe.
I don't have dreams like that anymore.

Just wanted to welcome you and add my agreement to what everyone here has so eloquently said.
The shock and grief does turn to anger, and then the healing begins.

there comes a time when everyone needs a break.
that time has come for me.
i enjoy corresponding with one and all, but due to having so many other things to do; i feel the need to get busy doing them.
Dakota,
I've always enjoyed reading your comments. Have a great time in the real world!

i was looking for some bad 80's pics to post of me in another thread, and i came across a ton of me and my sister.
there is a big age gap between us, she is 12 years older than me.
so when i was in kindergarten she was a senior in high school.
Joannadandy,
You and your sister are certainly very pretty girls. Enjoy your friendship, it sounds wonderful.
MD,
I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's illness, may she have peace.

yesterday was the first time me or anybody else visited my father's grave site - he died in 1977. he was a non-jw and never liked the them, but he liked the fact that my mother was.
ironically, i think he died the same day as nathan knorr.
anyway, this experience has helped me to see the real meaning of 'showing respect.

I think that we visit the dead for OURSELVES to bring a sort of closure and to help us heal. We may even talk to the dead loved one, but we know deep down that they can't hear us. But still we do what makes US feel better, placing flowers, candles, etc. at their grave.
Saying that visiting the dead is a waste of time is just one more way in which the Watchtower interferes with natural grief and human emotion. Get out in service, it will take your mind off your troubles.....yeah, right.

when individuals leave the organization for conscience reasons, it is evidence that god is shepherding and protecting the flock by doing a sifting work.
when people leave another christian religion it is evidence that the religion is morally corrupt and unable or unwilling to provide spiritually for their members.
when a christian from another denomination lies, he is acting according to his own disposition being from the father of the lie.
Excellent, excellent post.

what is all the fuss about?
when i was still assimilated (i.e.
still in the borg, but wanting out every second of that time), there was so much emphasis put on microphone handling that it was almost unreal.
When I first came to that hall, by the way, there were only 2 ministerial serpents. One was in his forties, the other in his 70's
Ain't that the truth.

i know how much you enjoy nature, so i took a pic of our garden on the day before the bbq.
it's not a particularly large garden so it doesn't take that much work to maintain it.
most of the flowers are petunias, niccotania and antihhrynnums, although we can get semi-tropical stuff to grow well in this part of the uk..
Simply breathtaking. You've done a great job.
