Tom Petty's song was playing on the radio when I made my first post. I identified with both the "good girl" and "bad boy" in the lyrics.
Free Falling also applies to how I've felt ever since starting to lurk on this board about 6 months ago. Plummeting to destruction with a tattered parachute, that parachute being what I believed to be the "truth." Sometimes I wish I had never started this journey.FreeFallin'

I AM NO LONGER A JW STATISTIC
by Cassiline inthis has taken a lot of courage to post.
my life with the jws has been one hardship after another.
i am sharing this to help others see that jws claim to be loving and forgiving people while they are not.

Dear Cassiline,
I just read your story now. You have suffered beyond belief. May you heal and find peace.

ZaZAWitts and DocBob
Thank you both for the information. Bill Cetnar and his wife live close to me. I've only heard vague references to them as "apostates." Since the UN deal I've been glued to this computer, reading and finding out how many ways I've been deceived over the years. Something like finding our spouse has cheated on us, suddenly every phone call or scrap of paper takes on new meaning.

Being told by my x sis-in-law's mother that "Jehovah didn't create the little children, Jesus did." This is the same woman who refused to believe that artificial insemination was used on women and not just farm animals!

Letter from gb?
by FreeFallin ini'm assuming by now every jw knows that the watchtower was associated with the un (altho they may not know about the current disassociation).
i've heard it said that they were merely registered with the un to aid in the preaching work.
how did they, or any individaul witness come to that conclusion.

The three reasons we leave the "Truth"
by sleepy inseems to me there are mainly three roads most of us have taken.
1.we did something "wrong" and were disfellowshipped and after felt able to look at the society in a different light.. 2.we didn't like the "truth" and were looking for a way out.. 3.we wanted it to be the truth but were overcome by the mountain of evidence against it.. which is the most common i wonder.. also do our motives play a large part in how we deal with information criticising the org.. without a reason to act information seems useless.. for instance if a person feels he has nothing to gain by leaving the org will he read different things into the same info as us?.
i think so and that all who leave must have a reason to do so, something to gain.. this does not make their reasoning wrong or prove they we are looking for just excuse.. but is a normal way in which humans deals with information.. two humans can have the same information but if they want or desire different things they may use the information differently.. maybe thats wht so many say "where else is there to go?
