i was raised "in da tooooooof" but in the time short after my baptism i was very very strict too. i thought if you dont follow everything you propably will die on gods day. 110% or death. period.

Newly baptized JWs = strict, "old" JWs = not so much?
by Awakened07 inyes - it's one of my flashes of memories again:.
i remember how when someone new and really eager and zealous came along, at some point in the conversation (or later) it would be brought up how these new jws (newly baptized) were so "square" (in my language), meaning they were so strict, by-the-book, rigid.
whereas those who had been in longer were more "round", as in more relaxed, not so bothered by the "details"... i remember joking about how newly baptized people should have a year or two of "quarantine" from the field ministry, because they were being too assertive.. now that i remember it so many years later, it's actually rather interesting.

37 years in the work force and working with both gender side by side within a team concept i have to say that men get along much better than women.
Women don't even get along with one another. When a team was made up of men only, there was less tension and got along just fine.
This was my experience which might be completely different than yours.
No offense to you ladies but we knew exctaly when it was the time of the month. WATCH OUT
haha this reminds me of the horrible stories i hear all day from my wife who works in an enviroment with nearly everyone female :-D they're fighting each other every day with words while maintaining a "everythings fine" masquerade to the outside. in my job there are very few girls and we're all just friends and if somethings wrong we talk about it openly and thats it. but i think those girls at my wifes workplace are just idiots.

me personally made the experience that a female boss more likely makes weired emotional decisions. my two females i worked for were completely cool one day and freaked out the other. i experienced this with a male too, but less often. so somehow i shoudl say i prefer a male boss. but i dont know whether this has anything to do with the average or not. i would prefer to say i dont care whether my boss is female or male.

Sharing the 'real' truth by commenting at meetings
by skeeder inhaving recently gotten my commenting 'privleges' back i try to sow seeds of truth with them.. here are two tidbits i have shared:.
1----- the bible highlights-------when the older men judged legal cases, they did it at the city gates where the proceedings could be observed.. 2-----wt study yesterday-----the world was judged wicked and noah was judged righteous---he was a 'preacher of righteousness' before he started on the ark.
there is no indication that god ever intended for anyone else other than noah and his family to get on the ark.

True, when your giving a talk you look down and know 3 people are listening, 16 people are really bored, 5 MTS boys think they could be doing a way better job, all the elders are up the back sorting out the cleaning roster, theres 12 women out the back with all the kids, 8 people cant hear you because they have lost their hearing, 4 couples are still getting over there argument, 55 others are working out how to pay there bills and what color carpet to buy and two teenagers want to shag and cant stop looking at each other!!
perfect description of all congregations i was in ever. nothing to add.

sometimes i try that too. but in a different way, since its hard to tell the truth if its slighty different from the "official" version. everyone sniffs the apostate smell in a second.
i usually give an answer and go over the top with my words. i try to show the dumbness of what is written by being extremely excited and happy about stuff that every normal person would regocnize as insane made up bull&%ยง!
works best with the revelation book! like when the book changes the whole meaning of a bible passage AGAIN to suit the story i give an answer and tell how wonderful it is that god gives us the insight to clearly understand the bibles message. its so clear!!!!! so clear! no doubt possible!unfortunately in 99% of the times i did that everyones nodding and being on my (acted) side. only one time a sister made a criticism! she said its not logical for her at all and she doesnt understand it. after some senseless words without any real explanation she nodded too, but i saw she wasnt satisfied. success!
the revelation book is such a made up fiction story on the rare cases i visit the study i sometimes would like to stand up and scream.

They keep family together?! Bull*&^!
by 4mylove ini always found it so strange (at least till i started posting here) that when my hubby told his parents about me the first thing he was instructed to do was speak to the elders.
i thought to myself, shouldn't he be speaking to his parents.
i was doubly hard because when he told them about me, we were living together!

no, you're all wrong. its us who tear up families, because we dont believe in the lies of the society anymore which mysteriously are truths of the one true religion. we spread our satanic ideas from which our familymembers and friends needs to be protected from! its so important! its their everlasting lifes!!!!! the jw religion does not split anything up, its a religion of love and unity! the ones that rebel against "gods" laws are the one who destroy everything!!
i wanna puke. its like a criminal points a gun at you wanting all your money and you wont give him and get shot. and when the police arrives the criminal is released free of charge, because it was YOUR fault. you didnt give him the money!

personal beliefs re: life after death...none since leaving JW.... You?
by oompa ini do not have a clue anymore.
having just accepted my own mortality, what the hey does happen at death?
i never thought about it before, because i did not have to.

@oompa
i had/have the same problem like you. Since childhood i "KNEW" what happends on death, no questions necessary. At the age of 26 i suddenly regocnized that i never really worked this topic out for me. I feel like a 5 year old wondering what death is. I never learned to live with an "unknown" death.
i thought nights about that topic trying to catch up with every "normal" human.
i came to my personal conclusion: we'all know what death is. we'all were dead from all eternity until our birth. it didnt hurt. it was okay. not very exciting but ok. lol. i dont expect dieing and then seeing myself in another "under"world. Nor do i expect me being raised from the dead. I dont rule anything completely out.
After all there might be god and maybe there will be "something", but my logical mind tells me that all this stuff is likely the invention of a monkey which finally realized that it wont live forever and searched for an idea to comfort itself.
Since everything except "nothing" is pure speculation without any chance of evidence i expect nothing. its not the "wonderful hope" my mum always talks about but its more "truth" to me than everything else.
I think the question "what happends after death?" is like the question "what is on the backside of the moon?" (BEFORE we checked it lol). In the moon case it was very likely there is nothing since we see the front of the moon, but since we had no chance to check there couldve been a whole alien population laughing about us on the backside. We couldnt know. And when someone said there is an alien population noone could proof him false. After all we checked it... and there actually IS nothing just like on the front of the moon. Do you see the alikeness to life? We know what happened BEFORE life (frontside of the moon), so we likely know whats after life (backside of the moon).
thats my best guess :-)
i may be wrong though. has someone a death "spaceprobe" to check?

My Very First Post
by leaving-jws ini have been so reluctant to post basically because i am so torn about exposing my personal life.
i happen to come across this website by mistake about 6 months ago.
i agreed with your opinions of the jws view on higher education and independent thinking that i found on this website.

The JWs do not have truth. It seems so crystal clear! But no one can see it but me...
this made me cry my first months of serious doubtings. is it me who is ignorant everyone else? and "everyone" means everyone who i call friend or relative. all jws in my case.

i found a pice of sublimnal art as a dubbie i'm shocked!
by XOCO inyou guys this has really freaked me out so much tonight as i was looking though my revelation book climax at hand i was looking to see where we had left off and i usually do this by seeing where i have stopped highlighting in the book.. so i started at pg 156 & 157 of the book so there were a bunch of marks on those two pages their are pics nothing special there.. but on page 159 their is a pic of jesus in the heavens where he is extending his handout to get a piece of paper and that's where i notice on the hand that were the wrinkles are supposed to be there is a face like a fetusnow i mean anybody can tell you that is a face of a baby.
i don't know why a baby on jesus hand or what it suppose to mean.
i guess it really shows how the control tower (watchtower) make me a jw feel really shitty.

ya, i dont see it at all. and i see monsters, aliens, humans and animals in the texture of my carpet. a baby?!
i dont believe in sublimal pictures in wt literature at all. most if not all of the tower are misguided sincere ppl. its just coincidence when a picture looks like something else. like i stated above its easy for a human to see faces and stuff in random patterns.

Why does the WT society not open its own non blood hospitals?
by Gill inwhy does the watch tower society not build and operate its own hospitals for its people who refuse to have blood in their treatment programme?.
surely, if bloodless surgery and treatment is so superior and they could prove it with their own statistics and survival rates they could show that blood should not be used.. so, what are they afraid of?.
-
freeme
a) it costs money and doesnt really help in getting more members (not enough bang for the money)
b) there are not many jw surgeons outthere. and those who would do it should spent their time in ministry.
c) ministry is more important than saving ones life temporarily.
d) jws would study medicine to work there. going to university is no good for a jw... jw shouldnt be educated but busy in ministry, ministry, ministry!
