  I graduated from college today

  at the age of 53 i graduated from arizona state university with a bachelor's in spanish.

  when everyone stood for the national athem i felt a little guilty at first, but i soon got over it!

  Chris, I just wanted to add my congrats to the others! I know what it means to accomplish what you have... or I'd like to know what it means! lol.

  I wish I could have gotten my degree, but was too busy doing Dub stuff. Now I'm doing fine without it, so I guess it worked out.

  I still appreciate you opening my eyes a couple of years ago when you commented on my article (link below). I find myself reflecting on it from time to time, and feel like you did me a favor. If you have any questions or can't remember, just e-mail me... (I don't really want to go into it here).

  Would You, Could You, Marry Your Wife Again?

  a couple of years back, 2 friends of ours decided that they would like to have their marriage vows renewed in our local church.

  the main reason behind this was that they had married abroad some years back, and they thought that a sort of "second wedding" would be a nice thing for the mums and dads who had missed out on the original.

  it was fine, very enjoyable.. hmm, i got to thinking, her ladyship and i did not marry in church, but settled for a registry office bash because of parental jw pressure, and also, because i had been married before it was, back then, very difficult to obtain a church wedding if one had been divorced.

  Good question Eman!

  Let me think about this... Tracy is the most beautiful, classiest, sweetest, kindest, most gentle, sharp as a whip, always optimistic, best friend I could ever hope to find. Our friendship is based on mutual respect and interdependence. It will survive time.

  I have never met another person like Tracy. I swear she must be an alien-human hybrid! lol.

  So what am I trying to say?

  Yeah, ok... As long as the tax benefits remain better for a married couple, I'd marry her again!

  Financial Help.

  hit my posting limit and am using my second account..... i don't know if anyone can help or not.. but i am in a desprate situation whereas i have to swallow my pride and seek out some help.. i am behind rent as well as my morgage ( i own a moble home on a lot rent).. need food as well.. phone needs to stay in service since i am deaf and need it as part my text communication for hopes of landing a better job.

  sister can email me to let me know if a employer calls, so i can drive over and find out what's up from there.. i work at wal-mart and alot of us have our hours cut to 20+ hrs a week, so this is hurting me fianacially.. job hunts is hard since i am deaf since most employers seems to prefer hiring a hearing person.. i know of a deaf friend who is unemployed and he went thru 20 job interviews in a month.

  none of them ever called or emailed him to say he got a job.. family can't help since they all have their own problems to deal with.. i can post all the info you need if anyone needs it, such as my landlord's address and my morgage address if anyone wants to mail a check directly to them.

  If you have certain "facts" that are proveable and not based on hearsay, then I would love to hear them as a potential protection to Tracy and I. If you have "facts," then please e-mail me with these "facts" so I can be prepared. My e-mail is [email protected].

  BTW, these "facts" should not be "he said/she said" (which is very subjective).

  Tracy is at work, and won't be able to respond until this evening. But I will add my comments. Both Tracy and I know Gary well. We do not operate from second-hand knowledge.

  And whether Gary is still down, down again, or not down, is his own business and not open to public debate outside his knowledge.

  Why not let it go? In view of what we've all been through as JW's, why not show Gary--a fellow ex-JW--some human compassion? Let him be. If he is what you and some others believe him to be, then he will prove that in time. The same is true if he is not what we believe him to be.

  But at this time, knowing Gary as I do, I have no reason to believe he is the evil and scamming person others make him out to be. Please remember that there are always two sides to the story. I endeavor to keep this in mind as well.

  Farkel, your post above was entirely uncalled for.

  You think you know these things about Deacon? Well--in your own words--PROVE IT! You can't. All you can do is relate what you've heard, just like that time you called me to tell me how "bad" Gary was.

  My friend, you do not know squat. You have no right to denounce Deacon when you do not know him. What the hell has he ever done to you?

  With all the kindness shown to you by others on this board (including me), you should have learned more respect for the human condition by now, and passed that on to others.

  We go back a long way, you and me... and even though we don't get a chance to talk often, I care about maintaining our friendship. But I will not stand by when one friend lashes out about another of my friends with second hand accusations that are entirely unprovable.

  It's time to amend your words.

  adult children of alcoholics- waiting to go

  i was raised a witness by my mom, but am sorta drifting now to speak with really no practicing religion, but still deep in my heart believe it to be the truth, but guess i am stumbled by the many shortcomings of the people within the organization.

  one of the many messages i always remember was not to trust any outside organizations, not to talk to anyone, to seek counselling, or to even have any questions??????.

  i think i really feel sorry for my mom, who has lived with an alcoholic all her life who was not in the truth, and she herself to escape, i am sure, drank as well, to relieve the pain of it all.

  Harley Miller Died

  i heard from my mom that harley miller died in california -- apparently -- today.

  i understand he had gone there for a pacemaker, but died before he could get it.. he had an article in the wt or awake 10 -12 years ago.

  although i didn't know him, he sounded like a pretty decent fellow.. fp

  was he a bethelite back in the 50s?

  He may have been. As I understood it, Harley was a behind the scenes heavy weight. I'm surprised more people don't know if him.
