Actually John Doe, I thought I was just answering a question, on what I would see as positive proof, not attacking anything or anyone. Just said that was proof positive enough for ME, not you, not Joe Blow, me. The question at the end wasnt' directed at anyone to answer, just how I see it. Period.

What kind of positive proof would you need....
by journey-on into accept the existence of god?
(i'm not talking about "a big man in the sky" kind of deity.
) what would it take to convince you that mankind was intentionally created by a powerful and intelligent creative force?

Apology for raising children in the Truth
by jeanne40love inwould you apologize in writing to your children for raising them in the truth?
i've apologized verbally........ none of them is going to meetings any longer...... my husband and i have been drifting away for several years..... .
i was raised a witness, and thought we were doing the right thing.

Hugs Kate,
Sometimes the apology isn't enough, I have to try to fix the damage done. She is my firstborn and got the worst of it even though I did not force meetings on her, nor did I ever make her go out in service. I was a sick neurotic mother from being raised a dub and still believed 100% it was "the truth" until she was 12. She did go to a private dub school and some meetings.
You obviously love your daughter dearly and she is lucky to have you. How old is she now? Perhaps you shouldn't take full responsibility for her problems if she is now an adult. I mean absolutely no disrespect whatsoever, just that, as we become adults we can't blame our upbringings for every problem we have. And from the sounds of your post, I highly doubt she blames you either. You didn't force her into what many of us in fact were forced into. You shouldn't beat yourself up for what you didnt' know back then.
You mean to tell me there are private dub schools?? Boy I would rather have gone to one of them then suffer the torment of going to a public school as a dub. Might as well pin a kick me sign on a kid. Upside though, I learned real quick not to let others opinion get to me. Speaking of which, feel free to ignore my two cents.

John Doe:
An experimental atomic clock based on a single mercury atom is now at least five times more precise than the national standard clock based on a "fountain" of cesium atoms.
The experimental clock, which measures the oscillations of a mercury ion (an electrically charged atom) held in an ultra-cold electromagnetic trap, produces "ticks" at optical frequencies. Optical frequencies are much higher than the microwave frequencies measured in cesium atoms in NIST-F1, the national standard and one of the world’s most accurate clocks. Higher frequencies allow time to be divided into smaller units, which increases precision.http://blogs.zdnet.com/emergingtech/?p=293
Optical frequencies regularly oscillate at one million-billion (1,000,000,000,000,000—one quadrillion) times per second.
Personally the fact that these oscillations are found in naturally occuring substances on earth to me indicates design not fluke. If I took a 100 hand grenades and blew them all up, would anything ordered come out of the chaos? Just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

The fact that mercury ions keep time better than any clock created by man, is proof enough for me of intelligent design.

I'd be over the moon if my parents left the org and apoligized to me verbally for raising me as a wit. I am sure it means alot to your kids that you have apoligized, period.

If ur child died, would u visit the grave and always "talk" to them?
by fedorE inalthough i still have doubts there is life after death, i believe i would be hanging on to every last vestige of my son that i could and that means talking to him.
talking into the air and crying.
realizing this is his final resting place.

Personally, no I wouldn't. As a mom, I totally see your point, but I do believe there is something after death, so I would just be visiting their physical remains, I don't believe they would be there, so why visit? For me all I would have to do, is think of them and talk to them wherever, whenever. If there is an afterlife, where you talk to someone who has passed doesn't really matter does it? If the body is just a vessel then you would be talking to dust. If there is nothing after death, then visiting a gravesite would be equally meaningless in my opinion. Better to hold a favorite picture of that person and remember all the things you loved about them perhaps.

WTS Idea of "Prophecy" Do You Find This Ridiculous???
by Seeker4 inoops, it posted too soon!
the wts view is that we don't understand bible prophecy until after it is fulfilled.
thus their excuse for mis-understanding what was going to happen in 1876, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, etc.

Completely and utterly idiotic is what I call it. The society has declared in big caps, repeatedly that the end is nigh, (prophecy right?) now like a trapped animal with its back to the wall, they say prophecy cannot be understood until afterward. Wow, wonder if I can use that mentality with chocolate?? I am making a prophecy.. if I eat this chocolate it will go straight to my hips, no wait, I take it back! I didnt understand until AFTER I ate the chocolate it would go right to my hips. Yeah that works for me!
Totally insane. I used the example of the bible code, when talking to a friend considering leaving the borg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_code
I asked him to explain why Micheal Drosnin could predict, a year prior, the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, in 1995(which did in fact occur) using a Bible code yet "God's Organization" on earth not only had failed at every prediction they had made but when it came back on them, they say they never predicted anything at all. He was a bit stumped by that one. But of course, came up with a very interesting theory that maybe the demons had given this guy the knowledge to disillusion people from the "truth". That one had me in stitches. Doesn't matter whether or not anyone believes in the Bible Code, the guy made a prediction or "prophesied" something, it happened. Yet "God's people" can't get one right, ironic.

Smell like a jock strap or like a perfumed girl? Shower Soap ?...
by Little Drummer Boy inon the strength that my recent post concerning cheetos went to 3 pages and was referenced in at least 3 other threads, i feel that the time has come to discuss another most important topic: shower soap.. this thread topic most definitely falls under the category of intellectual starvation topics, so you should be forewarned that terry will not approve.
heh...(just funnin' yah terry).
to the point: i here refer to a liquid soap meant to be applied to a wet shower poof and then scrubbed onto the skin.

I would suggest a natural product containing tea tree oil, Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel is a good one,(check your local health food store) has a manly smell, its great for cleansing and you can get it a liquid soap form, if your skin is super sensitive though, find a chamomile cleanser, which is perfect for the majority of sensitive skin types.

Holiday to Tasmania and my incredible book find
by jwfacts ini have just spent the last few days in tasmania, where i was born and raised until the age of 20. my grandmother is a jw in her 80's but let me stay at her house because "no one is going to tell her she can not speak to her own family".
i visited relatives and friends, and found that almost everyone that i grew up with are no longer jws.
it was quite eye-opening; some have become christians, some have new age beliefs, some are athiests.

I am Black, and believe you me, I know how controlling and anal Black men can be.
Control freaks come in all colors and both sexes don't they? Married a Porteguese control freak, dated a Scottish control freak, etc. Have a great friend married to a female control freak or the megabeast as I call her.
Congrats AW, hugs! Leaving is never easy but, it is freedom in its purest form. On the days you might doubt your decision, remember how little respect he showed for you, yelling at you in front of those people. I have to agree with a couple of the posters, you should get your things before its too late, I wish I had, when I did finally go back to get my things after leaving my ex he had the cops there to prevent me from taking anything.
