i have a scan of the cover of the 2008 watchtower witling only edition that i got from an active jw relative earlier today if anyone is interested in seeing it.

i don't know how to post pictures without them being the type you have to click on to enlarge.

if someone wants to tell me how to do it i can post it or if anyone has access to a photobucket account i can e-mail the pic to you.

This is awesome. IS someone going to keep this up and/or scan in the actual articles?

My husband has been stringing a couple of JWs along trying to get the new WTs, both their version and the watered down version. But I am tired of them knocking on the door when we are trying to sleep. And we ran into them at Wal-Mart the other night and had to avoid them. Ick. Can't even shop.

Maybe now he can cut them lose and tell them not to come back???

Hope so. They are getting on my nerves.

What really matters now?

i'm just getting back from the toronto fest.. more beautiful people one could not wish to find.. thanks to all, and in particular bumble bee and memario, for hosting.. while i was away, i see that trev lost linda.. my heart is broken.. and i see some stuff about dannyh hurting some elderly brothers?.

this board is so important to us supporting one another.. i think it's about love.. may we never allow ourselves to be consumed with hate or dedicate our lives to destroying something.. it's not hard to do if we dwell on what we lost.

but we win in so many ways when we celebrate the life we have now and new beginnings instead of hanging on to the past.. that's the best "revenge".. we all need to vent.. it's a critical part of deprogramming.. but i'm thankful to the good friends on here that gave me a heads-up when they saw me heading towards bitterness.

What was WTBTS giving as counsel to parents with disabled children in 60's?

my search and re-search is to know this issue fully and gain all insight as to what parents of disabled children were being told when it came to any further treatment and/ or prognosis; surgery, therapy, medication and such.. i will, of course, look at wt official site to see what is there.

yet, i'm hoping i get everything i need, right here, with those that know what was being taught on this issue in the 60's and 70's up until now.. thank you.. skally.

I don't have any "official" quotes for you, but I was in during the 70's and there was a boy in our cong. who was badly injured in an accident. He was sleeping in the over-the-cab compartment of a camper in a camping park when I big truck left the overhead highway and hit that part of the camper.

He couldn't walk and the doctors strongly urged his parents to go for physical therapy. Their attitude was he would be fine in two or three years after 1975 so they refused. He never learned to walk and I often wonder what he is doing today?

I was thrown from a horse in 1990 and it took 8 months of rehab to learn to walk again. Rehab works!

There was also a mother/daughter duo in the cong where I moved to later in 1976. They were both "slow" and while the elders clearly expected them to report time, I also remember that no one wanted to go from door to door with them or pick them up for service. They had no car of their own.

I was in for 16 years and I can remember how they made fun of the Catholics...

Because Catholics go to the priest for confession and forgiveness.

But the elders have the right to decide who has been repentant enough.

What is the difference?

The Catholics were not allowed to read their Bible.

Now the JWs are not. What is the difference?

The Catholics think the Pope is God's mouthpiece.

The JWs think the elders are God's mouthpiece.

The Catholic cover up molesters.

Now the JWs have been covering for them too for years.

What is the difference? IMO NONE except the Catholics

don't let their pedophiles go from door to door.

this may be covered some where in the archives here, but came across this today on the internet.. 90 year old anna bedford owner of one of the great camps of the adirondacks (preserve at green bay, 135 acres) dies and somehow the society becomes the owner.

they sell for 2.250 million dollars in june of l988.. see the bottom of page 2. .

Need photocopy of 1967 WT, p. 262 on 1975

i was listening to the lecture posted here by alphaomega and sinutko quotes the 1967 wt, p. 262 with a very strong quote about 75. i went to the wt's cd-rom and looked up the reference and it reads entirely differently.

but, sinutko says he is quoting, not paraphrasing.. the transcript of the lecture has sinutko saying this:.

"well, we dont have to guess what the year 1975 means if we read the watchtower.

I just bought bound volumes on-line for the years 60 thru 69.

How would I know if they were the "right" ones?

I also just bought a truth book and can't wait to get that.

Supposedly has some proof about the 1975 deal.

I lived through it and remember quite well how everyone

got all excited about it.
