Finally-Free,
I agree. They will promise ANYTHING to get information and then tell the crooks where they got it.
Dangerous and stupid to share info with them.

if the police say such and such a thing, do you tend to automatically believe it?

i only recently joined facebook (yes, a little late to the party).
and today i found one person there that i still consider somewhat of a friend, that i know is disfellowshipped.
this person turns out to be a 'hub', in that this person has a lot of facebook 'friends'.
Thanks.
I just wish I could peruse the names without joining.

it seems recently that jwd has seen a huge increase in lurkers, most of them seem cool and obviously the odd one who wants to stir.
bye bye watchtower lol.
a lot of negative media coverage recently also!
What a wonderful illustration. Did you make it?

I am happy for you and intrigued at the same time.
How do you "do" facebook? Do you use your real name or a fake one.
Did you look for these people by name or can you search for Jehovah's Witnesses or Xs or what?
Just wondering about how it works. I am such a newb at these things.
Thanks, sacrebleu

In a word, NO.
I live in Missouri and several times there have been instances of men imposters dressed like cops, stopping women and raping them.
As for real cops, there are two reasons a person becomes a cop.
#1 the genuine wish to help people
#2 the genuine wish to bully people and push them around.
And then there are the ones who start out as #1s and turn into #2s.

i am now an official "junior member".

despite the fact that witnesses claim to be politically neutral, i've seen a lot of political opinion being spread around by the r-n-f. it's all been pretty much anti-bush sentiment.
how have your experiences been?
When we were JWs, my mom landed in the emergency room after a bad fall. They were asking questions to determine her physical well being.
They asked her who the president was. She was a single mom with six kids and worked six and seven days a week. Even before she was a JW and after she never paid attention to politics.
So she said, "Ask me something I care about."

after being out of that faith for about 2 years now, i look back and can't believe how they controlled so many aspects of my life.. we let them in and like a deadly disease they just spread and take over.. what we could and couldn't believe, who we could and couldn't associate with, not allowed to play sports, watch what close you were, don't make friends with that one, do this, don't do that, read this, answer this way, sell that mag, contribute to our fund, contribute to the magazines, contribute to building, give us your precious time and you get zippo for it.. and we let them!!!!.
man i'm so happy i'm out - not a day goes by that i don't celebrate my new life, my new friends, my new interests..
viva!
I go to church most Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.
BUT if I decide to be lazy or do something else, I KNOW that the people genuinely miss me and I will not be lectured.
It is great.

besty and i are of the opinion that if more people da'd and said they didn't believe in the whole thing, it would send a serious message to jws.
you wouldn't need to actually criticize the organisation, avoiding the 'apostate' label.
we know that for many, fading is the only option right now, because of the pain involved in losing friends and family but, surely, if enough people went down this route, then more would have the courage to do the same?
I DAd in the mid 80s. And they called DEMANDING that I meet with the elders.
I refused and they announced I was DF at the next Sunday's meeting.
So it didn't help a thing. I think the reason why they've changed the announcement is that people are suing (how do you spell that?)
Anyway, has anyone ever successfully sued over this defimation of character thing? I wish I had thought to tell them that I would sue over the DF like others I've met on-line. One guy sent a copy of the letter to everyone in his cong! I didn't think of that. But oh well,...

do you find it difficult to know what to get for your beloved for christmas?
(assuming you celebrate it!)..
my wife says to me "don't get me anything, i'd rather we saved the money to get away next year.".
I don't know about her, but I want Ray Franz second book!
And there are several other "apostate" books I want.
We have so many nicknacks, can't really afford any good jewelry, don't care about TV, etc.
Just give me books, books, books.
If not about X-JWs, then about dogs.
I don't know what to advise for another woman's present. I only know what I want.
If we could afford it, I would want a diamond ring. Does that help?
