I can hear soooo many things wrong with the reasoning and logic in this video, so much that I had to stop listening, it is so Wrong!

It's all about force; forcing your child into baptism by the early teens at the latest, forcing your child out in service every Saturday morning, forcing your child to attend every meeting.

The parental mention of letting the child's heart do the motivating is minimized into extinction and the parent's reasoning demeaned.

The Jonah example is ridiculous; to say that Jehovah forced Jonah to go to Ninevah because the alternative was another ride in the Big Fish takes away all personal choice from the individual. But then, isn't that what WT is all about?

Disgusting.

a few months ago i posted about the dilemna i was facing with my girlfriend and getting reinstated.

a little under a year ago, both of us were disfellowshipped for sexual immorality.

while it was difficult, we promised to stick together through it, work our way toward marraige, and eventually return.

What words has the WT redefined?

these days, virtually every public talk speaker thinks it's interesting and intellectual to include a dictionary definition of some word.

often the word is in common use and needs no explanation, such as 'exercise', or 'knowledge', or whatever.. now contrast that to all of the words that the wt has it's own meaning for, and referencing a dictionary for the common understanding of it would be viewed unfavourably.. words like 'generation' or 'men' (as in jesus is mediator between god and 'men' - 1tim 2:5-6).. what words have the wt redefined that you know about?

- i'd like to compile a list if possible.. splash.

In speaking of Satan being confined to the earth, the elder said that Satan was "canned" (fired, sacked, terminated from his heavenly position). Then he said "you know what happens when something is "canned"; it's put under pressure." He conflated cookery with job termination to make his point that Satan has great anger because he was thrown out of heaven.

*sigh*

its been a long time since i have been this enraged at the evilness and shameless exploitation by the jws.

i just got back from the meeting (dont ask) and sat through the km article laying out plans to mass convert nursing homes all over the world.

i am not going to labor the obvious ethical travesty of this plan but i will say that it constitutes a major public health risk.

When I lived in a southern state there was one nursing home in the entire county. The elders knew there was an "annointed" residing there, a Rutherford-era guy who smoked and hadn't kept up with the changes...and wasn't disfellowshipped.

When Memorial time rolled around there was big discussion about who would bring this man to the Kingdom Hall and the upshot was that the elders would bring the emblems to him at the close of the meeting that night.

It didn't happen. The elder in charge said that the annointed could partake up to 30 days afterward, and the matter was dropped. The next time I inquired the elders thought maybe the man had died, so a trip to the nursing home would be unnecessary.

That's how little attention will be paid to the new directive. It's all CYA, folks, to maintain their nonprofit religious and educational status, and to produce "evidence" if asked.

yes the act of 1924 granted u.s citizenship to those native .

americans who were not already u.s. citizens.. prior to the passage of the indian citizens act of 1924, nearly .

i've been absent a bit more than usual.. at qualcomm stadium, home of the chargers and the "special arrangement" with san diego which means they use the venue for free, you are not allowed to bring a tarp in the 80 degree sunshine, nor a large umbrella.. mercifully however, you may bring a small one person umbrella you can hold or perhaps vice to the seat, but if someone asks you to take it down, you are to oblige.

san diego is freaking out over this i can assure you.

Dodger....where they would shut off the escalators so there was no choice but to climb those millions of stairs...with the strollers (banned years later), the diaper bags, the kiddies, our poor, tired, sunburned selves. Good ol' Dodger, frozen in the mornings, inferno in the afternoons!

....makes 80F in San Diego seem like a picnic, even without a tarp! :)

the st. louis archbishop embroiled in a sexual abuse scandal testified last month that he didnt know in the 1980s whether it was illegal for priests to have sex with children, according to a court deposition released monday.

archbishop robert carlson, who was chancellor of the archdiocese of minneapolis and st. paul at the time, was deposed as part of a lawsuit against the twin cities archdiocese and the diocese of winona, minnesota.

I think the Archbishop understood that it was morally wrong, but didn't know that it was actually illegal ("wrong"). There is a difference.

Back in the day, Dodger Dtadium in Los Angeles was used for conventions and upward of 60,000 people would attend. Daily temperatures would reach the 90's or even past 100F. There we would sit, baking, mom and kids, no money for tarp or umbrellas.

The people aound us had them though, and woe betide the person who complained when tarp rope or umbrella spokes cut across seat space, especially if that seat was occupied by a child. "You don't mind, do you?" Yes, we minded, but it was "untheocratic" to argue with a "brother" or "sister", so sunburned people sat sideways or forward in their seats, adding to their misery. The worst part was seeing many empty seats in the shade under the tarps, seats that were never shared with unfortunates or their children.

Ever try to leave your seat and make your way down a row past gigantic umbrellas, tarp poles, and ropes, then have to face the same infuriated faces upon your return?

I'm glad they're forbidden. Just call it part of the "equalizing"...
