The great news is that the WT is going to cut the talk short at a rate of 15 minutes per year...

if you take all the fluff out of a public talk, i,e.
the "state of this system of things," the bad news report, negative stats.
you're basically left with a service talk, aimed not at the public but the dubs.. i noticed that when the public talks were cut by 15 minutes what resulted was a 30 minute service talk or at the very least, a 30 minute local needs talk because all congregations seem to have the same problems.. these talks definitely seem to have a harder tone to them because you have all the counsel compressed into half an hour.. have any of you here who still attend noticed this?.

we had a little family roadtrip last weekend, and my wife brought coc to read in the car!
she read quite a bit of it... .
what was great is she really sees it as not the truth.
Robert7:
That's great. I dream of my wife adopting such a wonderful viewpoint. Good for you.

lets imagine for a moment, that we were all jw's in good standing here, and saying nice things about the watchtower, i'm sure the watchtower would discorage us from coming here and posting.. why is this?.
.
Because every step we walk must be prescribed from Brooklyn. A friend of mine, who is a Ministerial Servant, went as far as stating that we should not go into the JW Media site, because the society has that only for the public or media. I am fed up with this idiocy.
what if you wen't back in time and stopped your mother from opening the door to the witnesses...and your family never came into the truth!!
what if you risked changing everything else in your life...not having kid's or the same marriage partner...would it be worth it.
No doubt.
i like variety and different opinions and i don't see that in the jw's...... what can this lead to?.
It is not only unhealthy; it is extremely dangerous: a multitude of individuals who have ceased to be individuals and have become robots who would not say “bless you” when someone sneezes or raise their glass say cheers unless the Governing Body says it is okay to do so.
watchtower society declines to return disputed 100,000 legacyby emilie filou, third sector, 13 february 2008 .
the charitable arm of the jehovah's witnesses should return a 100,000 legacy from a man it expelled for trying to convert call girls, one of the man's relatives has said.. martin davis said the watchtower society should return the money left to it by his cousin donald kennett so it could go to kennett's nephew, who is autistic.. accepting money from a member who had been expelled would damage the charity's reputation, said davis, of dulwich, south london.. kennett was befriended by a jehovah's witness in the 80s when recovering from a serious car crash and joined shortly afterwards, davis told third sector.
he was 'disfellowshipped' from his group in stockport in 2001 after members discovered that he was contacting call girls.. when kennett's mother died in 1994, she had left half her estate to him and half to his autistic nephew.
Why am I not surprised?
i'm a man of neither wealth nor taste (my apologies to messrs. jagger, richards, et al.
anyway, i have lurked here off-and-on for a while.
as i stated a couple of days ago, i am impressed with the level of knowledge of many of the posters on this board.
Welcome!
i shared this in another topic list, but wanted to share it again.
i was reading an old watchtower i .

Yes, Trudy, it sounds very familiar. The unquestioning obediece situation is very dangerous, because that is the type of mentality that has lead many cult followers to their own destruction (and sometimes that destruction is more than a metaphor).
i may have posted this before, but could have been really drunk and don't remember.......i am soooooo sick of hearing about new light from the wt.
for lurkers and newbies here....have you ever found one single incident in the bible where god decided to reveal or teach false teachings first....and then.......reveal the truthful teaching later?
why the hell would god want to teach a falsehood, then later clean it up to make it "the real truth"....and yet that is what has been going on for the last 100 plus years?
No, I cannot think of a single instance... The WT equate their blinking light doctrine with the fact that the apostles usually had a wrong understanding of things, such as the issue of personal prominence among them. However, I find it incredible that people swallow that since it is quite evident that the apostles never presented that as official christian doctrine and never forced anyone to accept those concepts as true.
i read about a clergy letter project,so thought of above
That sounds as a very intersting project. Maybe we could coordinate that: create a draft of the letter, post it here and agree on the language to be used. Concentrating on the pedophilia issue is a good idea...maybe talk about the secret payments to silence the victims. Many sincere and honest elders do not know anything about this. I know it because I currently serve as an elder and the rest of the body have no idea about that matter.
