well then she says that she is considering having an abortion...which i am totally against....so we discussed it...then she started to think that she might have the child....so she talked it over with her twin sister...and she told her to get the abortion...now she says she wants the abortion...now i am upset...not onlly does she want the abortion...but she wants me to pay for the entire thing...so not only am i going to be terminating a developing life...but i have to pay for it????
Yes...if I was responsible for their condition. I believe a mother and father of a fetus are responsible for the condition of that fetus.
In the case of rape, where the father is unkown, is the mother responsible? Would it be acceptable for her to have an abortion?

i know this is an highly volatile subject for some so i'm not even going to ask for opinions.
but, for the record here's my stand - i'm for reparations based on principle.
I think that those who want reparations for the fact that their ancestors were forced to come to America should be given a repatriation allowance, so they can return to live in their ancestral home.

I think it's you who doesn't understand the maths, Pork Chop. I'm willing to bet that there is nothing statistically unusual about the Watchtower's use of common words such as "a", "and" or "the" compared to comparable texts, but their use of certain words, (Jehovah, Jesus, Armageddon, apostate etc.), is statistically abnormal. A rough idea of the importance of certain words to them can be done by comparing the frequency of those words to other words. To get a more accurate estimate, you would need to compare them to their frequency in non-Watchtower texts, but as a "quick and dirty" estimate, Amazing's finds are significant.

I'm talking about the Greek word Kyrios which can only be properly translated "lord", but in the NWT is sometimes translated Jehovah, and not only when quoting from the Hebrew scriptures. In the earliest known Greek manuscripts, NO FORM OF THE DIVINE NAME APPEARS. You can postulate, as the Watchtower Society does, that every single copy of the Christian Greek Scriptures in their earliest form, is corrupt, and corrput only to the extent that it has removed the Divine Name and replaced it with Kyrios. There is no evidence for such a belief, but it's at least possible. However, that is not the job of a translator. A translator should translate the available text. Unfounded assumptions should be relegated to footnotes or appendices.

Yes, it would hurt. Those of us who get a lot of email don't want to have to trawl through any more crap than necessary. I'm also willing to bet that most people who forward this kind of mail have never even heard of BCC or removing extraneous material from an email, and sooner or later a huge list of email addresses makes its way onto a computer infected with a virus, which then proceeds to send copies of itself to each and every one of those addresses.

Don't you think that they could just as easily have left the Tetragrammaton in (just leaving it untranslated) instead of mistranslating it as "LORD", thereby making it clear to the reader that the 4 untranslated letters represent God's name in Hebrew? Instead you give them a pat on the back for going it in an illogical way.
Couldn't the translators of the NWT have left Kyrios untranslated or translated it as "LORD" (in capital letters to distinguish from when itr's referring to Jesus, although that's a whole other can of worms) rather than mistranslating it as Jehovah?
I can't understand your double standard in this matter, Yadirf. I'm inclined to agree with you that the Tetragrammaton should be left as YHWH (not JHVH, there's no J sound in Hebrew) or as Yahweh, or even possibly Jehovah, as has been traditional since the middle ages, although the arguments presented for using "LORD" in capitals are not unreasonable. But when the word used in the original language can only be translated as "lord" there is no justification for doing otherwise.

the Greek Text needs reworking,
It needs reworking? But isn't it the inspired word of God? How can it need reworking, and what gives anyone the right to rework it and call himself a translator? The earliest extant manuscripts of the Christian Greek Scriptures do not contain any form of the divine name. None of them! Anywhere! Surely if God had wanted it there, it would be there.
