Is it all just a 'Cosmic Crapshoot'?
by AK - Jeff infirst my faith in the wts went away.. later my faith in religion [for purposes other than fellowship] went away.
to date, my faith in the existence of the 'great cause' remains, but is tarnishing in some respects.
i have no clear picture of what we really are, where we are really going, and why we exist.

Should I look up old JW friend in my new town?

i recently found out that an old jw friend lives here too.
his sister used to be a good friend of mine.

we all know about the blood changes, and the generation changes, etc.
i was thinking that they are so hungry for some "proof" that jehovah is feeding them that they just embrace everything and anything.

Questions For Those That Entered the Armed Forces After Practicing JWism
by R.F. inwith having so many close to me serve in the armed forces, it only helps me appreciate even more those that serve in them.
i've had 7 uncles and a grandfather serve in the u.s. army, another grandfather in the u.s. navy, my late brother-in-law served for 6 years in the air force right on up to his death earlier this year, and my father also served in the air force in his pre-jw days.. even while being a very devout jw, i still had the utmost respect and appreciation for those serving.
from what i understand after chatting with many of you is that some among us on jwd have entered the military after leaving the religion.

It seems that joining the Armed Forces is a test to see just whom the parents "love" more. In the case of the JW's. blood is not thicker that water.
Most families I know will be taking care of their parents as they age. Here these parents prefer to take care of total strangers and not their own children. It shows brainwashing to an extreme. Pathetic!

Hello Mr.M. Although I have never been a Witness, I was lectured for many years and after starting to verify all that I heard, I was dismayed by all the psyco-babble. (No need to explain what I discovered). This board helped explain why all I heard and read started to make less and less sense.
I suspect you are dismayed by all you have figured out. It basically means you were able to make independant conclusions on your research. That shows intelligence.
As far as losing your religion, there is little to worry at this time. The first thing you should work on is getting your faith back-simply you need to have faith in yourself. So things went wrong. I had really messed up parents-so bad, one of my brothers had to kill himself at 35. Don't look back. Look up John3:16 and remember being saved is not something you have to purchase.
I have faith, but no religious affiliation. Some here have given up. I absolutely accept that. What I cannot except is people suffering inside. It can shorten your life . So take a step or 2 back and remember not everyone on this planet is out to get you. Good luck and tell us about your progress (even day to day is good).
