by confused and lost ini have just finished reading the book of romans and i have a question ?
a person cannot please god unless he is controlled by the spirit.
(rom 8:8,9) nor can he put to death the misdeeds of the body except by the spirit (rom 8:13) the next verse (v14) then tells us that all who are led by gods spirit are gods sons.in fact they are adopted as his children.however,according to the wts , these verses only apply to the annointed.so,my question is this.if only the annointed are led by gods spirit,whose spirit leads the "other sheep" ?

Were you able to say "Merry Christmas" ?
by OnTheWayOut inthis is my first christmas following the complete fade, but i have to maintain the fade.. hence, i have been uncomfortable with saying "merry christmas.
" the closest i have .
come this year is "same to you" and "enjoy your holiday.".

I did say Merry Christmas to lots of people and tried to push any JW indoctrination from my mind. There is a slight niggle about saying it but I won't let it get the better of me.

Do you ever feel that you'd like to go to church...
by Trevanian in...but don't know where to start looking for a good church to attend?.
or maybe feel too guilty with leftover jw emotions to even think about going to church at all?.

There isn't anything wrong with going to a church IMO. I now realise that whichever one it is, it won't have exclusive rights to God and is not a requirement for salvation.

My Witness Sister Asks Me For Her Inactive Daughters Phone Number ?
by flipper inamazingly enough my jw sister ( very self righteous ex-gilead graduate ) called me for the first time in 3 years asking for her own 32 year old inactive daughters phone number .
her husband's mom died last friday , my brother -in -laws mom , and she said she had not talked with her daughter, my niece , in 5 years.
my sister dissapproved of her daughter getting a law degree at a university in california and shunned her for 5 years because her daughter stopped going to meetings to get an education !

You are right Mr. Flipper about the dual personality present in cult members. I have experienced it in my son and it always confused me before I understood what was happening. Sometimes he seems like his "real self" and then will go into the JW personality. Its not always just what he says because his whole demeanour seems to change too. I have ordered "Releasing the Bonds" and hope it will help me to get him out of the WT.

Suicide attempt and I am heartbroken
by Iforget inmy younger brother tried to kill himself today.
i am sick inside....sicker then i ever thought possible.
my mother told me the news in the cruelest of ways and i am now in a fog.. i blame the jw's and all the bullshit they put on children who are df.

why is it better to "fade"?
by ruined ini've been reading various posts and i notice that fading is often advised by others who have done so or wish they had done so.
why is this better than being df'd?
i'm assuming it's because your family will not shun you if you are merely da'd ?

There are positives and negatives for fading and for DA'ing. If you fade you may still keep your family and friends in your life, but have to be careful what you say or do for fear of being outed by the borg. If you DA you have complete freedom to live your life and don't have to worry anymore, but you will be shunned by family and friends that are JW's. The WT has made sure that its members face very difficult and painful choices if they want to leave.

My son won't be spending Christmas with us...
by lavendar inmy son has been studying with the "gurus" at the kingdom hall for the last few years.
for those of you who were non-jws most of your life (and used to celebrate christmas), then joined the wts cult........didn't you miss spending christmas with your family??.

Lavendar - I used to feel torn in half about it when I converted because my family had always had it. My then husband still celebrated so it still went ahead with me trying not to be part of it which I found difficult and depressing. Now I am having Christmas again and my son doesn't so he won't be spending Christmas with me either. What unnecessary chaos, divisions and pain the WT causes us all. Try not to despair as your son may see the WT for what it is one day. That is my hope for my son too.
