Most Detested WT Publication

what is the wt publication you hated the most (i mean besides all of them?).

mine was that faggy pink "listening to the great teacher" book.

my mother tried to teach both me and the neighbor's worldly kid lessons from that book, and you know how embarrasing it is for a boy to be put straight by a pink book?.

Examining the Scriptures Daily was always my favorite, though I always tried to put more into it than was there. After leaving, I told my mentor about it and she got me a subscription to The Word Among Us and I realize now how stupid it was. The whole point of having a daily meditation on scripture is to give you something to think about, not to tell you what it means by WT standards.

I hate that one the most because I feel so let down by it. Oh, and the Greatest Man book, yuck! How many people did I offend by placing that piece of garbage at Christmastime?

Is there a defferance between a question or a false prophet?

the jw's aounced the end of this system would end in 1975 well i do not believe i am in paradice.. a watch tower mag said that when first aproached some of the chosen ones that they asked jesus if he came to fulfill the prophecy at this time and jesus replied that is not yet.

the point was that sence they were gods people that asked jesus about the time of the end and they were wrong then it should be alright for jw's to be wrong.. jesus said no one knows the hour if any jw asked.. i think there is no if buts and ands about it, it was a false prophecy..

2. The world will end 10/21/75 give or take a few months.

putting on a three piece suit to spend a 90 degree summer day knocking on doors and trespassing!dragging an entire family, including babies and young children to three or four day meetings in an outdoor stadium, living in a seedy motel room for the week.getting home from work and spending the next six hours cramming for a 'theocratic review', getting the entire family ready to go, gulping down dinner, and speeding off to the hall, and then finally getting home around 11 pm, hurrying off to bed so that everyone could get up for work and school in the morning!going to school to explain to the teachers why little johnny can't color pictures of santa, salute the flag of his country, eat birthday cake with all the other 5 year olds, bow his head when prayer is offered, or exchange valentines with all the cute 5 year old girls in class.

and then explaining with grace why he is not immersed in a cult!well, on and on!

these things were typical of my witness life - now i cannot imagine ever doing such silly things, and especially thinking that somehow they would bring pleasure to my god!.

I did what I never in my wildest dreams thought I would do as a JW so many years ago. I went to my child's school and met with his teacher and explained to her that regardless ofwhat my ex husband says about holidays, I don't want my son left out of anything. She was relieved, we had a good talk about the witnesses. Never thought I would be meeting with a teacher without that cheesy blue brochure. Haha.

Guilt trip

i got to thinking about something that happened a year ago.

i was drifting away from the org, when my sister-in-law told me i was being selfish.

she said she was at aloss for words as to what to tell her 11 year old daughter about me.

My mom will twice a year cut off cmmunication with me by calling and telling me that she has to protect herself. She says that if she loves me, then it will hurt so much to see Jah kill me and my kids in front of her at Armageddon. It usually lasts for about 2 weeks, then I get a card in the mail asking for forgiveness. I always give it when asked for it.

The last time I told her not to worry, that her loving god would erase her 'natural affection' for her offspring and grandchildren before he slaughtered us and allowed the birds to eat our rotting corpses in her front yard. My dad told me not to be so gruesome next time, but chuckled as he said it. He has never been the shunning type, which is probably why he has never been an elder.

Why Witnesses need Sunday schools....Oral sex Watchtowers!?!?

knorr banned them because the bible says...."families must worship together".....but sitting thru a watchtower study where the topic is "porniea" and little 7 year old johnny puts his hand up and answers: "jehooova...hates oral sex!

" watchtower conductor: "yes, thank you johnny...good comment...".

My kids leave for their own homily, then return for prayer and singing at my church. I like that they get a simpler explanation of the scripture readings and they get a little break in the hour service. They are there for he worship part, so we do worship together. Of course, I have never heard sex discussed in detail at a public assempbly since I left the org.

hello everyone, my wife and i are currently associated with jw's.

my mom converted when i was 3 years old in 1975, my wife was born after her parents converted.

about 4 years ago however, my wife and i have seen many things that have discouraged us enough to start doing some research into the validity of this religion.

Welcome. This is a great place for support as you decide what is best for your family. It was my kids that were the turning point for me, also. I did not want to make them suffer through school for a religion I did not believe and could not, in good faith, teach to them.

I found that the more I talk about my issues with the people on this forum and other friends, the less emotional and more concise I am when talking to my family that are still 'in.' This has made my fade a lot easier and has kept the lines of communication open with my mom.

"However" because it usually means that my fiance has just finished ranting about some philosophical point and is now going to rant the other side of the argument.

"Over Exaggerate" It is just 'exaggerate'!

I entertained my English professor one class period by writing 'like' on the top of my notebook, then proceeded to make a mark under it everytime one of my 18-23 year-old classmates used it. He told me later how hard it was to keep a straight face.

!......................thats what jehovah`s witness parents,tell the outside world..my parents did.......the fact is..i did want to have a birthday party..i did want to get toys at christmas..i did want a tree with all the lights..i did want to go to the school christmas party..i did want to hunt for chocolate eggs at easter................tell that to your jw parents and you`ll get an ass-whopp`n..........i told my aunt i loved christmas,she always got me something...my aunt told my mom.....mom was not happy.......i did`nt support the jehovah`s witness lie....i paid the price..............when you were a jehovah`s witness kid,did you want to participate in celebrations?

My first birthday party was thrown for me when I turned 28 by my future parents in law. I cried a little when they sang to me and I'll never forget how that felt. My 6 year old said it makes his heart feel really big when we sing to him. I'm glad he won't have to feel left out like I did.
