WHA WAS THE TURNING POINT FOR YOU IN JWS

was there a specific event/turning point for you or was it a moment of enlightenment?.

My family's main reason for leaving was the chronology (failed prophecies, 607 BCE crap) and the Nazi conciliation of the 1930's. Although I was born in the 1930's I was not fully aware of the nazi documentation until much later. I wish I had known before or at least paid attention more back then.
I wasted an entire life time in the org. -

Worst use of "Jehovah" instead of Lord in NWT Christian GRK scriptures?
by oompa innwt (acts 7:55-60) 55 but he, being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of gods glory and of jesus standing at gods right hand, 56 and he said: "look!
i behold the heavens opened up and the son of man standing at gods right hand.
"57 at this they cried out at the top of the voice and put their hands over their ears and rushed upon him with one accord.

oompa said: "TFJW or anyone else who can tell me. Where and how do reference the "J" versions. They sure aren't lying around the house of any JW I know, and I have never even seen one. Just because the "J" translations decided to create spurious verses is sure a dumb reason for NWT to do so. where the J are they......oompa"
j17 is here http://www.kirjasilta.net/ha-berit/
Acts 7 here: http://www.kirjasilta.net/ha-berit/Maa.7.html
The Jewish Witnesses in Germany, before Nazi Rutherford kicked them out, used j17 instead of German (Luther, Elberfelder) translation.
Transliteration of Acts 7:60 from j17:
vai-yich-ra al-bir-kov vai-yiz-'ak kol go-dol YHWH al-tish-mor lo-hem es-ha-chei-t' haz-zeh vay-hi a-cha-rei dab-b'-ro kad-do-vor haz-zeh vai-yi-shon
But as I said, the only reason the translator used YHWH was to help his Jewish readers to identify YHWH with Messiah, but this doesn't give the Society legitimate reasons for inserting "Jehovah" into the text since they are not trying to prove "Jehovah" is Jesus. Instead, they do it for the opposite. -

I just checked j17 reference and Professor Delitzsch does use the Divine Name. Delitzsch was a Trinitarian and translated the "Christian Greek Scriptures" into Hebrew from Greek upon being commissioned by a Bible society. He used this reference to help his Jewish readers to identify the Messiah with YHWH. The same premise goes for j18.
Today these versions are published by Trinitarian Christian publishing companies, yet the wts relies on them to justify their insertion of the Divine Name. -

Very good and revealing information. Thank you.
A fifth/sixth century Aramaic manuscript says: "Our Lord" (Maran)
The Hebrew versions say: "Our Lord" (Adoneinu)
Reliable Spanish versions say "Senor" (Lord, our Lord)
The Emphatic Diaglott says: "O Lord" (English right column: "Lord, place not This sin...")
No ancient Greek or Aramaic manuscript/version uses the Divine Name (YHWH) in this passage.
Modern Hebrew translations use "Adonai" (my Lord) -

Holding on forever and ever
by free2beme ini went to a old train station museum today and looked around at the antiques and old tools of days gone by.
as i walked around to the platform that once held passengers departing to several cities down the track, i came upon a old woman who was just sitting there looking sad and knitting to pass the time.
i set down and spoke to her to see if everything was okay.. "are you okay mam, you seem like something is wrong?

'Apostate'
by lfcviking indefinition from the american heritage dictionary:.
'one who has abandoned ones religious faith, a political party, ones principles or a cause'.
thousands of people leave the watchtower org every year, some become atheist, some agnostic, some choose to follow another religion and some develop their own beliefs, yet according to this dictionary definition all are apostate.

Apostate: 'One who has abandoned ones religious faith, a political party, ones principles or a cause'
I like this definition.
One who has abandoned:
1. ones religious faith = I abandoned having religious faith in the wt, thus, I am an apostate.
2. a political party = I have abandoned the party of "me v/s you", "i am better than you" religio-political party, thus, I am an apostate
3. ones principles = If the principles of the Society and many JW's in general include child sexual abuse, spousal abuse, Nazi politics, racism, lying in court, beating children, etc., then I have nothing to do with that, thus, I am an apostate
4. or a cause = the only "cause" I can see for the wt is making slaves/drones to rake in cash on many different levels for the society, and I have abandoned that, thus, I am an apostate. -

Do you really want to save us?
by nvrgnbk inthis is for the christians.. let's put our swords away.. try to convince those of us that have lost our faith to accept jesus christ and all that that acceptance entails.. pretend that our lives( eternal) depend on it.. that's what you believe isn't it?.
this is an opportunity to win souls for christ.. yes.
things may get heated.

Isn't "salvation" over rated? and who defines exactly what it is?

One of the Kingdom Halls in New York had a horrible sound system. They were easily interfered with by CB radios outside and hearing devices. For example, one elderly sister used one of those "whisper 2000" devices to hear better and everything she said or did (every move and bodily function) came through on the speakers. She had a habit of eating peanuts during the watchtower study and you could hear the munching.
