I dont think I'm disturbed in the slightest by the fact that I'm hated and reviled but a group of self satisfied "I'm better that all you faithless scumbags " dupes of the watch tower .Concidering the level of real intelligence in bonafide believers is quite negligable it would be pointless to be concerned in the opinion of said believers.

Apostates - viewed as liars, the devils henchmen & to be avoided at all cos
by The Scotsman inyes, as far as jehovahs witnesses are concerned, apostates are evil, wicked, faithless liars.. i was wanting to ask - assuming most if not all who come here are in the jw category of apostate, how do you feel about the fact that you are portrayed in such a light by the org?.
i will be the first to admit - i always thought that those who criticized the org were untruthful or exaggerating.
its not until now i have considered what you guys have to say and how you feel that i realize that what you have to say is all truthful (tinged with a bit of anger perhaps).. personally i think its verging on character assassination.

Universal Sovereignty
by monophonic ini can't remember if i read this here, but i was reminded from another thread..
universal sovereignty is pretty much the whole explanation for why god permits suffering, correct?.
why would a god of love make it last so long?

Religions are a man made construct with the express intent of controlling other people. Using logic to understand a work of fiction is as productive as trekkies at a convention discussing the merits of klingons verses the federation. I have never believed any BOOK written by MAN is the work of GOD . The truth of GOD is in front of your face in the air you breath and in the people you meet . Finding truth in wisdom is easy and the bible has some wisdom but it also has some nonsense that goes against all that is observable and indeed what is able to be understood on a fundamental level by the human intellect . Do you believe a man can walk on water or raise the dead? I do not believe these "documented" miracles ever took place yet I have an unshakable belief in the divine ,I have a concious contact with God and know that God is real .( Seeing this in print looks a little crazy)
The world and its natural laws haven't changed since creation started that is plane to see if you do a little real reserch and dont just absorb what is thrown ot you. Attempting to disuade people from there faith is not my intent
Man made religions are a SCAM they are an illusion hiding the fundamental truth of our existence.

Did all those refreshing moments/ideas make you cringe?
by Younglove1999 ini have to admit- the idea of having to live forever and having to continue going to meetings 1,000 times a week and studying "the new scrolls" sounded so annoying and tiring and not at all refreshing and exciting!
i honestly did not look forward to "it" .
when discussing how exciting going to assemblies and conventions would be and how we'd always leave feeling rejuvinated and happy, i never did.

The idea of spending an eternity with a bunch of mindless drones sounded like as much fun as putting my hand in a vice and pulling out my fingernails with a pair of pliers . I never once thought it would be great to "Live on a paradise forever on earth" I always thought it would be great if there was some sort of change when we die.

My Belief in a Higher Power But Not in any Organized Religion
by flipper inhello folks.
i feel i've been out of the witness organization long enough to have developed some pretty good idea of what my beliefs are now in regards to a higher power and organized religion that i felt comfortable to share it with you , my friends here on jwd.
i respect you all have your takes, religious and non- religious, but just wanted to share a little of myself with you folks , wondering if any of you have felt what i feel.

Mr flipper I'm in a wierd place where I feel totally connected to whatever divine force there is but I also feel completely adrift. I have a sense of knowing a secret but I can't fully see it , express it, understand it or even be certain I know anything .I FEEL something profound and wonderful yet I feel nothing at all , sometimes I think I'm on the cusp of uderstanding and other moments I feel as if I'll go insane if I can't get relief from the need for understanding. Perhaps it is supreme arrogance that convinces us we are important enough to deserve a diety or divine creator or god pr maybe its a primitive survival instinct. Whatever it is it is as real as anything else in our heads , as real as love or hate or remorse or joy, we can't prove emotions are real anymore than we can prove our own personal God is real , but to each of us they are as real as real is . I love being alive and I cant wait till this life is done so my questions will be answered.

We're All Gonna Die!!
by Lloyd Braun ini began this idea in another thread, but i thought i would continue it here.
a lot of people talk about how god will ultimately punish those who get away with murder and other crimes, in the long run.
but i was thinking:.

I am far from a zealot or a fanatic or even a true believer but when i was I was in rehab (yes I'm a recovering ______ fill in the blank lol ) I was given two visions of a profound nature that caused me to really and I mean really change in a profound and fundamental way . One was like a gallery of statues that were all me in prior existences on earth and I was being told that if I failed as a human being again all the suffering of the prior MEs would have all been in vain some of them were horrible burned or insane or diseased while others appeared to have been successfull
The other was me standing near a creature made of light who was asking me if I was sure i wanted to go there again and that I didn't have to go , but I said to it " No I must go they need me" I dont know who "they " is but those visions (for lack of a better word ) have driven me on a search for answers that hasn't relented since> Maybe all the dope leaving my body caused some kind of halucination , but It was a unique feeling and caused such a deep and profound change in me that wasn't just from hearing or seeing something . I felt a realness and energy that left me with a certainty that is impossible for me to refute .
I never believed in reincarnation and the jury is still out on everything else ,What I FELT was real but does that make it a real thing?

Ideas when viewed in the light of pure intellect and devoid of a personality as they are online must bear a closer scrutiny than when they are dished out in person . This forum has done me a world of good and has helped me free my spirit/soul/energy so it can seek its own personal reality, whatever that reality may be. thanks again for the honesty, dissent and even that wierd person or two at least they are earnest lol!

Why do "christians" have such a hard time explaining the bodily reserrect?
by booker-t ini have yet to find a christian that can truly explain the bodily reserrection of christ doctrine.
they become so confused after a few minutes that many of them will try to change the subject on you.
i was talking to a born-again co-worker of mine about this very subject and after 15 minutes of going over scriptures he said "you know booker-t i have never really swallowed the bodily reserrection doctrine but this is what my church teaches.

Answer me this . How can you explain something that defies logic? How can something based on information that goes against the very things you see each day as reality be explained as a thing you must believe to survive to reach the ultimate realization of your existence? You must believe this story and just take it on faith that it is real or you will perish for all eternity as a wasted effort. That sounds like a line of BS to me but what do I know ? I just live here like the rest of you .We all have value and we all have a purpose and all religion does is limit this truth and cut away our self worth and replace it with some construct meant to enslave the mind not free it or lift it up > If you believe that a religion has the answer to salvation you should join the one with the most members as they must have all the answers,,,right? Sorry if I got of track ,,,blueviceroy
