someone once said to me that God would defend your right to free will all the way to your grave if that is what you choose. If you choose poorly thats your right .I want the right to choose poorly I want to learn, not be told what to believe

An email from my Dad on Bible Chronology - Armegeddon's arrival
by eclipse ini cannot provide any background info on my dad except to say that he is not an attender anymore, but is not apostate.. years ago, my dad showed me why he thought 1975 was wrong, and he gave me a date like 2011, 2012...back in 2004.. it actually made sense to me back then, and obve's posts reminded me of my dad's calculations..... only my dad's calculations were not based on addition or multiplying of random crazy numbers, .
but actually were logical assumptions based on the scriptures as he understood them.. here is his email to me...it might be lengthy, but it is easy to follow and understand.
(sorry for the large font, it was the font he used in the email.

I wish I could believe in armageddon. I wish I could believe the earth was 6000 years old . But when I saw the grand canyon and realized that all of human history is about 6 inches worth of rock and the river is really really deep in the canyon I had to rethink some things. I know I know God just made it that way so we would feel cozy and the view was better right? I wish I could believe something in a book was from God written just for me , that I was that special, that all of us were that special . But deep down inside where the truth lives I know it is something else.

It made me reexamine ALL of my preconcieved ideas and all the notions I had about spirituality. They goaded me into doing some Real research about our human state . (which inversly led to disblieving Jw nonsense) Not all bad was had suckling on the poison teat of dogma. I must give credit to where credit is due . thank you whatchtwer and jws for helping to open my eyes to the hypocrisy and deceit practiced by organised religion on the weak ,trusting and decent people in the world.

Interesting NWT translation deviation
by B_Deserter inwikipedia artice.
i was reading a little bit about lilith and i noticed the list about 1/4 down the page showing what various modern translations render the hebrew lilit in isaiah 34:14. i found it interesting that while most translations render it in an accurate form (night monster, vampire, night hag, lilith, or night creature), the nwt breaks with this and renders it "nightjar," which is a common nocturnal bird.
do you think the society rendered this verse so that it would make isaiah seem less of a myth (talking about vampires and demons of the night doesn't really help the bible stay on the credibility wagon)?

I must confess I have fallen totally off the creadability wagon as far as the bible is concerned , after long and long study I have concluded that it is indeed a BOOK. I plan to study other religious books as well. Something hasa happened to me and I now see religions as myths and I see God when I look in peoples eyes.

Does a person's true personality come out when they're drunk?
by lfcviking ini've heard this been said before that when you have had loads to drink and when your inhibitions are temporarily removed then the real you is exposed.
i.e:.
some people when they've got a skinfull they might start talking about money & bragg about personal financial achievements and how much more money they're going to earn.. some people after a few beers suddenly think they're rocky balboa and think they can take the world on.. others after sinking some g & t's might turn into a crazed sexual tyrannosaurus!!.

A lack of judgment and inhibitions take place when a person gets drunk. This is definatly not the real person. They just act on any impulse that pops into the brain. We all have wierd transient thoughts at times (or all the time) imagine if you acted on everything that popped into your head. Would that be the real you?

Where Do We Really Go When We Die ?
by flipper inoh, boy.
just had these thoughts rattling around in my head a few days, so wanted to get your takes.
my college son and i were talking and he said a fellow worker in his 50's said he had been aware his mother was sick and dying in another town , but had not died yet.

"We" dont really exist at all "we" are just a vehicle for the great conciousness that is the universe "We" allow it to express itself and at some point undrstand itself. "We" have always been and will continue to be . "We" don't go anywhere because "we" are always here. our information we be retained at same level although our sense of self will not be signifcant enough to be measurable against the everything we return to as the vehicle wears out. "We" will be who we are plus everthing else too "we" will be home again.

nice to meet you . Your boy friend is in aCULT maybe he wants to be free like a lot of CULT victems . Maybe you could show him this site and tell him to do some research about the CULT he is in . or maybe he should look up the definition of the word CULT so he can see that he is indeed in a cult . Did I mention he is affiliated with a CULT?
