greetings from Australia
by rimfiredancing ini have been lurking here for awhile- i think i first came to this board 8 years ago, a couple of years after i'd walked away from the jws.
i have found that even after all this time there are still things that come up for me, particularly about feeling 'safe' in the world, feeling ok. .
i'm moving back to the forest in a few weeks, due to my disinclination to be around large groups of people and the reactions i have to the toxicity of civilisation.

unicorns really existed!!
by Witchs Son ini never noticed those scriptures before but seems that what some translations of bible call bull is actually a unicorn.
i checked several translations, even found this video which made me think.
ok i didn't like the music either, it is not your classic music hit but do check those scriptures and tell me what you think.. http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=ub9ynbe4k5i.

And dragons too.
Although I think maybe unicorn is a mistranslation of a difficult Hebrew word? Any takers?

Crackdown on "sisters" volunteering at DCs
by dozy inthe wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.

Are KH library's becoming extinct?
by moshe inthe kh i visited had just a few newer books ( none before about 1980, it appeared) and a handful of assorted bound volumes- on the shelf was a stack of what looked like "copies" of the wt cd of books and magazines.
is this common a kh's today?
it was a pretty new kh, 3 congs used it.

What were the main doctrines in 1919?
by freedomfighter ini would like to know what the then bible students believed at this time in history.
also, what were they allowed to do, that they cannot do now?.
since they were accepted by jesus in this year - it has meaning for me.

JW believed in what was published in the book The Finished Mistery, which was at the time (1917) their interpretation of Apocalypsis. If you read the book you will see things like: The white horse rider is the Pope and other crazy stuff.
