The conversation was a very strong encouragement to go to the ~~sales indoctrinating~~ meeting and show how much i loooove Jehover. And they wonder why I don't call or visit that often. Why can't they accept it's not something I want, desire or need and be at peace with having a relationship with the grandchild with what time we have together? I do not get it. Suppose it also answers why I always bring a buffer person who I go visit to avoid the religion....their lives revolve around it, but mine doesn't. Ugh.

One possible reason for current changes

i know that the wtbts generally dont give two hoots about the elders (this weeks wt describes the elders as imperfect , make mistakes etc while making no such admission for the fds) but it is interesting that the thrust of much of the recent changes is to reduce the elders workload.

notice three recent changes.

reduction from taking an hours book study every week to an occasional 30 minute study.

My grandfather was PO in his ~~sales division~~ congregation for long as I can remember. A few years ago he stepped down as PO to just an elder. His reason was he is getting old and tired of doing "all" the work that others should have been helping with. I think it's true for probably most of the US, the older elders are burning out and the FDS is realizing they will soon be having a Crisis in elderland.....

I was 18 just out of high school, working full-time, going to a local JC part-time and pioneering. eventually my head started to explode and came to the realization da truff wasn't the truff. so i started fading...did the whole made-up monthly hours...all 90 of 'em. lol. so i resigned as a peddler of crap. i also bought a USED car. was accused of being materialistic b/c i bought a car and therefore couldnt pioneer. the car was well within my means. yet it was ok for an elder to drive around in a new Lexus and Mercedes. uh, double standard anyone?

Back 10 years ago, graduated from high school one of my witless friends game me a tietac for graduation. This wonderful thing was a watchtower with a diamond on the tower and writing saying "The Watchtower". Yeah, like I'd really ever wear that. I should sell it, some witless might buy it. hello ebay.

My Pioneer Wedding =Didn't get much money/gifts from invited Brothers!

didn't have much money...everyone wanted to come, so i reluctantly invited many.

we had lots of good food and nice bottles of wine, white and red.

so it cost a bit to set up....my soon to be wife said: "don't worry, your a pioneer, i'm sure the brothers will be generous with their gifts!

My sister got married and had a bridal shower. This one sister showed up and the gift was totally regifted. The bad part...it was lingerie (least the tags were still attached) but it was the wrong size for my sister, but the right size for the person giving the gift. So lame.
