What to do with left over memorial emblems
by Mattieu inwe have an italian cong that shares the hall with 2 english congs.
an elder from the italian cong makes the wine & bread every year for quite a few of the congs in melbourne.. after the last memorial is held in our hall, the wine is taken back to this elders house where certain privileged ones are invited back for some socialising and to drink a very nice drop of red wine!
as well as the usual assortment of cheese platters and crunchy bread.. we were privileged enough to be invited back a few years ago, but the whole idea didnt seem to sit well with me, so we took a raincheck and never got invited back again.

last of the system blah blah blah
by wizardca inso a family member sends me an email from another witless about how we are living in the last hour of the system.
they were approached at knife point (it was a plastic knife) during the middle of the afternoon at a grocery store.
so the write goes on about how one should always get a store employee to walk you to your car and never ever go shopping at night.

So a family member sends me an email from another witless about how we are living in the last hour of the system. They were approached at knife point (it was a plastic knife) during the middle of the afternoon at a grocery store. So the write goes on about how one should always get a store employee to walk you to your car and never ever go shopping at night. Oh and the best part was not to go shopping alone. We are living in the last hour of the system after all.
So while I don't doubt the authenticity of this event...have they not read the bible showing the same acts through out history as occuring? Economy is bad, people rob others, etc to put food on the table or for something to do or whatever. I think it's a good idea to ask for someone to walk you to your car (especially at night, no issues with that) but to encourage others not to shop at night or go to the mall alone? I would be freaked too if someone pulled a knife and attempted to mug me (albeit a plastic knife) but to claim it's because we are sooooo close to the end of the system??? GAG! Let's just shop on the dangerous Internet (all dem apostate websites that are so tempting!) and hide from society (unless we are selling distributing literature. Oh and be wary, people pretend to be UPS and Fed-Ex so don't open the door, even if you see their truck outside!
Is it just me or does anyone else want to gag? Oh and the best part...the author doesn't have a cell phone. But they are getting a replacement!

The idiocy of accepting new people to the KH with no background checks!
by restrangled injust recently before the book study was cancelled, a young man started coming into my mom's home for the same.
she was alarmed and asked the elders, to please have him go to the kh for the study.
they ignored her worries and he continued to attend at her home.

so I joined the Catholic Church or the Baptists or (insert religion) they do a background check? i could see one having done if you become an elder, priest, pastor, etc. but not for a lay member.

Confession
by Adrianoblue inever felt uneasy during the first few dates with a "worldly" person, when the subject of religion came up?
did you kind of wait until you got to know each other more, or did you "confess" right from the start?.

I've never just come out and said "oh, hey, I used to be a JW." But eventually people do find out...when holidays come along and they get curious why you aren't at a family member's place to celebrate (insert holiday here) or if you are celebrating (insert holiday here) what the rest of your family is doing. Then comes the questions about JW beliefs, etc. It eventually comes into conversation, but I wouldn't just come out with it on a first date. Though I guess those beliefs do get ingrained over the years so people kinda wonder why you freak out more than everyone else when JW come to the door peddling their trash literature.

Eggs with money and some with candy hidden outside. A basket or a plain ol' plastic bag. Never had anyone ever bring up JC during this occasion. Guess everyone was more into the candy and money than the meaning behind it. :) Ooooh don't forget the See's Candy Eggs!!!!

Eh...couple years ago my JDub brother in law brought up 1975 to other family JDubs how they would approach being asked about it. I tuned out the reply, now I wish I hadn't. Darn it.

VIII - I do that same mental dance of "do I or don't I answer" except it's when I need to call certain family members. It's a "how am I going to be guilted this time" dance. It could be seeing family in a paradise farse or go to the sales meetings or the end is almost here! Fun times. And people wonder why we don't call or can be hard to find. :) Welcome to the Boards.
