Men & Women and... Garbage Day

garbage day at my house is always a harrowing experience... the night before, hubby will go through the house gathering anything that looks to him to be trash.

having gotten in trouble before for throwing out some old but precious 'thing' he will now ask, "you going to keep this?

" or "why are you hanging onto this junk?

I often question Garbage Day at my house. Around the house, I have to help cook, clean, wash, fold, dust, etc.... but my wife has NEVER, EVER taken out the garbage. Ever. Not once. Even though I have a severe bad back problem and many times it practically kills me to drag that can to the curb. I don't even think she knows what day the garbage truck comes!

Why is that? I know so many guys that are married and have to "share" in the household duties, but their wives never "share" in taking out trash, yardwork, auto repair, home repair, etc.....

My fantasy come true: It's Tuesday night at my house and I'm just getting ready to drag the trash cans out to the curb, and my wife hops up and says "No, honey, let me do it and when I'm done, I'll be in the garage changing the oil and rotating the tires on your car!"

It's amazing what men fantasize about, isn't it? Hee Hee.

The most important thing for most JWs is trying to make everyone think they're good little JWs while living a secret "normal" life.

So hard to spot the few with flair and talent in the organization

the people who can sing, dance, write, draw or have interesting intellectual conversations about life.

when i go to the hall, i hear the same boring conversations over and over again.

Flair? Did somebody say flair? Oh, damn, I forgot to wear my 13 pieces of flair to work this morning! If anybody gets the film reference, that's funny. If you don't, you just think I'm a dork. Hence the screen name!

I was (and problably still am) a very talented musician. My talent was looked down upon, like music was the tool of the devil. Anyway, I ended up playing in a blues band, which they liked even less.

@1935 - Enjoy it while you can! (New Article)

why not speak to as many witnesses as you can about 1935 being a wonderfully inspired date from jehovah and how clear it was scripturally to the society what this date obviously meant?

really get the witnesses going on about it being the right thing, how the great crowd was recognized, how the society are amazing and all that spew and then...then you wait - just make sure that conversation was memorable.. -----.

This kind of crap makes me sick. I'm not a witness anymore and haven't been for almost 10 years, but I was raised as a witness. If I were still a witness, I'd be even more upset because essentially everything that I was taught by the organization for the first 20 or so years of my life has all changed. What we were made to accept as God's Truth has changed and morphed into something that doesn't resemble what was being taught when I was a kid in the organization. Imagine if every 5 years or so the Pope changed the rules and beleifs of the Catholic religion. Would they still even be Catholics? If you keep changing your core beliefs and doctrines, how can you even keep the name of the religion? All the dates and times and prophecies and rules and regulations keep changing! How can anyone adhere to this crap, or even remember what they are supposed to be adhering to? How, at this point, can any JW even go out in service? Can they even understand what the new doctrine is supposed to be? How long before the people at the doors out in service recognize that they aren't hearing the same things from the witnesses and start questioning the changes in doctrine?

When I was a kid... let's see. NO BLOOD! Now, you can have blood. The 1914 generation would never die and would see armageddon. And that didn't mean people who were born in 1914, we were talking the generation who were adults in 1914. Well, that changed in 1995 when they said "Uh, ok.... NEW LIGHT..... forget about that 1914 crap".

Honestly, I don't even know why I care. I knew it was all crap years ago.

social skills and JW's

it occured to me the other day that many jehovah's witnesses have very bad social skills outside of the kindom hall.

my brother, who still goes to meetings but isn't a strong believer, and his wife, who is a 4th generation jw with very stong beliefs and a very self righteous attitude asked my wife and i if we'd like to go for a hike at a local national park the other day.

i faded years ago and my wife is not and has never been a jw and isn't religious.

been lurking for many a year now.

my life works in seasons and i find myself doing at one time of the year something which i did at the same time the last year, and so on.
