I have the hope to get old and die. Where's the no hope in that? Live, eat, die! It's called reality.

Is the Patterson Elder School Info. Public Knowledge?
by neverendingjourney ini might have had my first post-fade slip up.
due to a temporary job, i've found myself back in my hometown the last few weeks.
i was pumping gas this morning when i was approached by the presiding overseer of my old congregation (technically my current congregation since i never bothered to change my publisher card).

Talking to an active, believing Witness can actually be fun as a demonstration of study in the research of sales methods, linguistics, hypnosis, high control group tactics, methods of persuasion, and the use of straw men and red herrings.
Witnesses are slick and they borrow from all the low arts. It used to be Witnesses were the used car salesmen of religions. Now they're the junk dealers of religion . . . everything they have has been used and thrown out by someone else. -

I'd like nothing better than for some foolish elder to mess with me. I'd call him at 1 am every night for a solid month.

JW splinter groups..
by fb130 ini was just wondering.
has the idea ever been brought up of a group breaking away from wts & forming some sort of reformed jw church that isn't so controlling.
like lurther & the catholic church.

You wrote: You have 2 admit the very general framework of the JW organization is respectable
Nope! I find the general Jehovah's Witness framework dishonest, offensive, and disrespectable.
Witness beliefs are nothing more that dis-beliefs that require a counter believing group even for existence. Same with the neutrality claim. Being anti-established-government isn't being neutral, it's being politically active. Being silently indifferent is being neutral. -

Hi fb130,
If you want to expose yourself to misery and disrespect, I believe you couldn't have picked a better group to join than Jehovah's Witnesses. -

Less Focus on Doctrine, More Focus on OBEDIENCE.
by easyreader1970 ini went to the convention this past weekend.
it was a bit different than most conventions i have gone to (all 26 of them).
there was pretty much no doctrine presented at this convention at all.

How do the Witness people advocate for a new government and deny they are a political organization? Either they're indifferent to government or they're political. Which is it?
Half of the Watch Tower Corporation's published literature is advocating against legal established governments. What's the deal?
Refusing to vote! Shunning members who choose to work for or serve in the defense industry! I'd say Jehovah's Witnesses are nothing but a separatist anti-establishment political action group, hiding behind a religious facade, desiring to rule the world. -

The Watch Tower Publishing Corporation printed: "The first-century Christians were called a people for God's name."
Dud! That name might have been "Christ". Here's how it may read: The first-century Christians were called a people for "Christ's" name. Make sense? -

Holy Moses! PBS documentary suggests Exodus not real
by ICBehindtheCurtain inthis will be very interesting, i only wish it would make the rounds on the jw emails the same way "knocking" did, fat chance!
we can only hope that pbs and nova will jump on this bandwagon as well, sooner than later.
holy moses!

Jehovah at work! The reason Jehovah's Witness district assemblies were 8 days long is that's how long it took to get through the restroom line and back to your wooden seat. The Moses story must be true. With Jehovah's help anything's possible. Look at leaving the parking lot of a distinct assembly. The spirit directed Witness parking lot attendants always somehow manage to figure out how to reduce 45 easy out exits to one long slow line.
