These guys are all showered, shaved, and shined in suits and ties. They look like business men who never worked a day in their lives. Board of governors for another big business religion. Big bums with big bucks!

The structure of the Organization keeps people in
by BonaFide inwhen i was in bethel, i noticed this, and of course more now.. there are those big buildings in brooklyn, the huge watchtower sign, that big clock facing manhattan.
everyone in bethel has those haircuts, clothes are pressed.
everyone is at morning worship.

If I judge the organization by size and cleanliness of buildings, I've been in Washington, DC, I'd say the United States Government must be God's organization. They have more members, more buildings, and cleaner buildings.

Elder giving special talk has lunch with us...shuts me down for asking about society money..lol?
by Witness 007 inwe had a nice lunch with the elder giving the "special talk" but the conversation turned toward the cancelled bookstudy....well i went on to explain how knorr made too many meetings for brothers with families and how good it was to have a free night {even though i go to one meeting a week} then i said: "well, headquarters seems to have a very buisness smart brother working there with the publications now for donations due to tax and selling all those buildings in the heart of new york for millions and moving out....{elder interupts me] "yes, but, jehovah is the one who is buisness smart brother..." i thought wtf!
weird response, like was it too un-spiritual?
did jehoover really "tell" brothers to sell in new york?

Pagan Decorations Allowed in Society's Buildings?
by compound complex inin search of christian freedom, ray franz, pages 274, 275.. .
i recall that when the watch tower society purchased a former motion picture theatre in queens, new york, for use as an assembly hall, the theatre had an ancient egyptian motif throughout.
over the marquee, the front of the building had large tiles depicting various egyptian gods and goddesses, one even carrying the crux ansata.

We had circuit assemblies in National Guard Armories all the time in the 50's and 60's. There were military honor cases in the foyers, pictures of past and current presidents on the wall, flags standing in the meeting room, and big guns on trailers with trucks and Jeeps on the side lot.
It didn't bother the Watch Tower employees one bit to rent these buildings and it didn't bother the Witness people to sit in the armory. Armories were favored meeting places. -

You wrote: Captives of a Concept Those are great points. As a non-witness I can't see how the WTS could refute them.
The way the Watch Tower Witness refutes everything they don't like is they shun and snub the people who present the information that they don't like. -

Jehovah's Witnesses don't have "beliefs", they have policies. Beliefs of matters of truth, like my father was male, can't be changed by a published opinion of an anonymous writer. The Watch Tower is a business with policies to be followed by employees.
The item of "unity" is enforced unity by policy. Enforced by monitoring speech and behaviors. Violators are punished and repeat violators are fired.
All top level Witnesses agree with current policies until those policies are replaced with different policies, then they agree with the changed policies. With the Watch Tower Corporation, actually the policies are the products.
Space is rented at the Kingdom Halls and the tenants pay rent by supporting current policy and agree to work for the Watch Tower Society in exchange for approved association. It's just as simple as that. -

Who, of all religions on earth today, has "the credentials of a
true prophet?" I can see only two possible answers to this question:
1] The Society
2] Nobody
If the Society does not claim to be a *real* prophet; a true prophet
then wouldn't that mean that there isn't *any* actual prophet on earth today? The only other source of prophets would
be "Babylon the Great," wouldn't it? Isn't the Watchtower Society
the only possible source of a real prophet? But if they deny being
such a prophet, then wouldn't that mean that there isn't one single
prophet on earth today? (Don Cameron)
