Finding out Who you really are

good morning everyone,.

i'm very new on here--just "born yesterday", as a matter of fact, but am finding out how wonderful it is to be able to be free to express thoughts and opinions, share ideas, give comfort, and find hope, within "these walls".. i'm going to ask a question, and that is, how long did it take any of you souls out there to find your true self, after leaving jw's?

i was very young when i was first introduced to the studies of jw's.

I do like people a LOT. Although there's not much call for a 58 year old ex-jw skeptic. I will most likely keep posting somewhere. This forum fit's me pretty well. I went through a I love everybody phase back in the early 90's. Didn't last too long though.

I like religious people although I am not religious myself. I enjoy exchanges with thinkers from any practical viewpoint. Everything I write is for myself. Nothing I write needs to be taken personally by any healthy person. I enjoy changing sides and write pro as well as con. If a writer can not write pro as well as con she does not understand the issue.

Df'd notifying elders of no return?

question: my friend who is df'd wishes to tell the elders that he won't be applying for re-instatement.

my friend only recently decided he doesn't want back in and isn't really "out" emotionally yet.

do elders really pay attention to df'd ones disappearing?

Hahaha When I quit attending group meetings, not df or da, it took the group leaders (read elders) 10 years to notice I was not there.

Then they asked me if I had and questions and I gave them 10. I never heard from them again till I went after them. I took those fools to the front page of our daily newspaper and they hid like rats in the woodpile.

I'd love for those ass wipes to try to disfellowship me. I would have them in a meat grinder they never even dreamed of.

I am going to threaten to sue them if they DON'T shun me. :-)

Renunciation of Baptism

Shunning is the answer to it all. Shunning cancels the effects of baptism, eliminates competition for positions of prestige and power and eliminates crowding in the soon to arrive new world, making mansion grabbing easier and more fun for all the un-shunned.

Shunning is the answer and it is practiced well at the local Kingdom Hall. Can you imagine Witness people standing in a service and shaking hands and saying a greeting to nearby people like is done at a Catholic Church and other churches as well? They would have to have shunned people wear red beanies or something so the right and the righteous would know who to shun.

In the Witness religion, shunning withdraws the priesthood (aka elderhood) from a male member; and suspends temple sealings and blessings also known to Witnesses as privileges of service like working for free on a Watch Tower Corporation sponsored quick build.

I can't think why I would want to cancel the effects of baptism. What I have seen is people wanting to cancel the effects of shunning.

The best thing about being a Witness is the shunning when I leave. Why would I try to cancel the effects of the best benefit of being a Witness?

Shun me high shun me low. Shunning is the way to go. Yeahaaaaa

Hi Sentinel,

I tried to be open and non-judgmental at one point. Now I have happily abandoned those.

Now, I judge others every day. I judge them by the way they treat me and by how they treat people who are important to me.

When a member of a high control group shuns or snubs me or someone important to me, I convict them and sentence them to their own behaviors.

I am skeptical of all claims of a supernatural nature and demand extraordinary proof for all extraordinary claims. Honest expressions mean nothing to me and I only respond to objective reality. I hold nothing sacred and submit to no power over me. People who try to control me are fools and are doomed.

Outside of that, we have lots in common. :-)

non-jw family might hire jw nanny--r we crazy?

we are a non-jw family with 2 kids under 5 thinking about hiring a jw live in nanny.

she is in her 30's, active jw.

we all have talked about mutual respect for each others religions, and all agreed to a hands off policy.

depression and why JW's don't reconize it

well as you know unless you are an elders son or daughter generally jw's don't lift a finger to help all those ones feeling downtrodden and lonely.

i felt like this from july 1994 to march 2000. i prayed to jehovah constantly for help to ease the loneliness, i begged the elders and even others.

for a long time the only ones who would talk to me where the elderly ones(who i miss now since i left) i cried every night and felt after five years of being at meetings and feeling invisable (even though i was an auxillary pioneer) i decided that my life was worth fighting for.

my brother the circuit overseer

hi everyone, third generation dubber here who had enough sense to leave eight years ago, after utterly wasting thirty years of my life.

i ve faced everything most of you all have,(loss of family and life long friends, and hardships trying to learn how to relate to the world around us) but now i am now enjoying all the best that life has to offer.

just wanted to relate my first hand experiance of how loyalty to the crotchtower is put above everything else even blood.

I used to think I lost friends and family when I became visible with my dissent. Now I wonder if I didn't just identify and remove a bunch of people who really did not care for me.

They turned on me when the chips were down. It probably was a good think to just get away from them. They were just taking up space.

Is this policy in writing anywhere?

my mother and i have been continually discussing the pedophile issue, and the dateline show.

she insists that there is no official policy of going to the elders first, when this situation occurs in a family.

she said she feels it is a family matter, and she personally, would go to the police first, and let them handle it.

Members of high control groups have a knack of saying what will be in the best interests of their group leaders. To appreciate this, just attend a court trial or hearing where a group member is defending her behavior in the shadow of their group membership activities, such as a child custody hearing.

The member of the high control group will slip and slide to conceal their real beliefs, such as what would they do in case of illness or accident involving the minor child, where blood medical treatment is advised by the treating physician.

They will swear in court that the group does not require them to avoid blood medical treatment when we all know it in fact does require them to decline blood medical treatment.

I think after a couple group meetings where the official public policy is discussed and letters read, members can take the track expected of them by the group leaders . . . no problem.

This group has enough written material to support about anything imaginable they could do with documentation from their own publications.

If my groupie parent had to live with me, I think I'd slit my own throat.
