the purple triangle was a nazi concentration camp badge used by the nazis to identify several un-orthodox religious groups known as "bibelforscher".
5go I liked your first post about the purple triangle but you did ruin it by downplaying the holocaust. My dad was in the British Army and saw a concentration camp shortly after it was liberated, it was all that was said and worse. If my family were jewish it would be indelibly imprinted in thier minds

i remember just before i was baptized back in the late 80s i had a meeting with 3 elders about it.
having a bit of a gorge michel going on.. i pointed out the obvious the jesus had one ( & was accepted by god) russel had one ( & was accepted by god) & a brother in the con had one!!

When I first started going to meetings i was very obviously a hippie - remember them? i had long hair.. and was told very clearly that although i had no longer had short hair it was not short enough. Funny thing the person who was so strict about this was having an affair with a pioneer sister at the time!
last heard he is back pioneering and an elder. I should have seen the warning signals. but then i would not have had three lovely children Hindsight!

This is all about mind control by the wtbs. If I had of found this site 20 years ago thing ago i would have left the society ine day later.
I love thier academic or is it aneamic research? When I did a my degree all qoutes had to be attributable and correctly cited, if this was not done you were marked dowm. It also helped when doing research to be albe to follow up the citations in context and in depth. Once again they - unintentionally betray the rationale of thier attack on the internet
Btw if I felt bullied here I would move on, end of. It does not help me here that I am 6ft 4in and 220lb one bit, therefore less not more bullying

I read coc by Ray Franz like many others here. I was given it by a very good friend (before I began posting here) and did not for one moment view as apostate just a very thoughtful account of what hapenned to him and those around him.
You are right to keep the rest of the family out initially. I imagine it is difficult enough .

after i wrote my parents a 10-page letter going into detail about all of the problems with the watchtower, along with documented evidence of false prophecies/predictions, flip-flops in doctrine, as well as many good reasoning points, she put up some very strong defenses over the phone.
at first she said that she read the letter.
then when we got on a topic that was covered in the letter, and i could see that she didn't comprehend the point that i was making, i would ask her, "are you sure you read the letter?
All parents worry about thier children's choice of friends and religion. My mum and dad were upset when I became a JW. they were right. sadly they died not knowing that I had stopped going Be patient with them but do not comprimise

I have no idea but I used to organise talks for our cong and invited and they had a discussion at group level whether people would be offended if a brother with abeard gave a talk; I pointed out that this was a loaded question and that the reverse question should be asked; namely would you be ofended if a brother with a beard was not invited to give a talk. Needless to say they only asked the loaded question! I very soon after was given another job nad should have seen just how even in the smallest detail they try and control people's lives.
There is no scriptutral ground over banning beards just predjudice

i've always felt just a teeny-tiny twinge of guilty pleasure whenever i plunge into a work of fiction.
especially if it's a huge novel.
i'm sure this is some combination of puritan work ethic and residual "time of the end" jwism.

I read all the time love it , my favourite book is The Little Prince by Antoine de st Exupery; it works on differnt levels. it is about 100 pages lonf with pictures , so you can read it without guilt. BTw changeling I will order that book today regards llbh
