I've never thought such a thing that "the annointed" would be white anglo saxon. Silly me. It is more likely for those new in other countries having previous beliefs that included ritual and some kind of "heavenly hope" that prompts their partaking. I knew a sister who wasn't anointed then was and partook for a good 20 yrs and then felt she wasn't annointed anymore. Isn't the threat that if you do partake and you really "haven't been called" then you are drinking to your own death?

Which countries do the anointed come from ?
by aligot ripounsous ina couple of jw friends came yo visit us today and we had dinner together.. at some stage in the conversation, i said that i do understand that an increasing number of jws from developing countries take emblems at memorials because, if we consider that europe and the us compose, together, about 700 million people, there is no good reason why nearly the whole lot of the little flock should be chosen from one tenth of humankind.
it is therefore all too normal that jws from third world counties think that they should have their fair share since jehovah id not partial.
the husband listened attentively and agreed but his wife probably found that we were engaging on a slippery ground and she shortened the visit.

I was called "The Dog" tonight
by restrangled ini am very angry.
i visited the active talk site tonight, identified myself as restrangled as most of you know who i am, and skally referred to me as "the dog".
i have been a member for just about 2 years, contributed cash to those in need without question, supported those in any way i could and my husband has done the same.. i am beyond hurt..i.thought myself and my husband had supported your cause......to be called "the dog" by one one of your most prominent members lets me know we don't count for squat no matter what we do...much like the witnesses.. thanks skally...you made my day today.. r.. .

fader's wife expresses 1st doubts....
by sweet pea intalking to a friend (ex-elder) today whose wife was (is) a close friend of mine .
she's still a jdub but won't talk to me now i'm df'd (apparently it hit her very hard when we left) and so she busied herself with ministry and meetings in search of comfort and affirmation of her faith.
this didn't work for her and she came out with an unexpected question... .

What you can encourage is to study about history and the bible, translations, doctrines on your own. The society doesn't get information from God. They research, interpret and sanitize. In most religions I see people studying to validate what they believe rather than for facts.

Gopher, That is the point I was making. There never has been a "theocracy" and unless it is the "purist form" it is just another sham at control.

My mother started studing when I was 6 mos old. 1951. I was immersed in it until I was 36 and had a big epiphany. My mother is now 88 and "the truth" is all encompasing for her. Her greatest dream is for me to go back to meetings (my brothers are not included in this. She thinks they will skate into the "New System" holding on to her skirts as a reward to her faithful service). Yesterday, her doctor told me she has inoperable lung cancer. We will be going to an oncologist to find out exactly what kind. I doubt that she will opt for treatment as it is very advanced. Chemo is out as is surgery. I know that as she gets worse I will have to live with her to care for her as well as getting help from hospice. This will involve taking her to the meetings. I will do this for her and it will be hard for me to keep my mouth shut when the rediculous spews at the mentally unchallenged group. I have no desire to cause problems or be disrespectful of their meetings. They do have free choice. I simply will do this for my mom. I used to be mad that she raised me in "the truth" although my brothers had total latitude (they are very screwed up guys) but you just have to get past that and let it go. You know life is such a roll of the dice, you could have been born a woman in Afganistan and NEVER see the light of day mentally. Since leaving the organization I have studied a lot about religion and history. This helped me greatly and also gave me an outlet for "studying and research" time I did for the meetings...with much better outcome.
I give kids until they are 26 to blame their parents then they should get off their little asses and get their own life in gear. Unless they do that they will remain emotional cripples and refusing to take responsibility for their own actions.
You can apologise for ever but unless they really want to grow up and out it is up to them.

What's reasonable to expect on a first date?
by serendipity ini've been on online dating sites for a while, have exchanged emails with over 100 guys (politely saying "thanks, but no thanks" to the vast majority) and went on dates with a few.
i'm generally disappointed in the emails these guys sent and have been disappointed in the dates.
i'm not sure if the problem is with my expectations or if there is just a lack of communications skills and courtesy among people.

Drop it. If it takes this much energy before you even meet him then you need to move on. I think you know within 5 seconds whether someone is worth your time. Obviously your time isn't valuable to him. Too many red flags. One thing the "organization" will do is destroy your intuitive process. Listen to your inner voice and don't waste your time.

What's the point of it all anyway??

Maddie, I forgot one more thing. Take self defense classes. Great workout and you learn that you are worth defending and you can do it yourself. Nothing is more empowing that knowing you can kick some elders ass (metaphorically speaking) if he tries judging you. I really helps your self confidence.

Maddie, I've been where you are at. Just float on your stream and not swim against it. Something that really helped me in a big way was that someone dumped a 1 yr old rottweiler in my yard. I didn't really know a lot about dogs although we had them growing up. I started taking this dog, Bear, to training and we kept going thru reg training, to agility, to qualifying for him to be a Therapy dog to visit people in hospitals etc. He opened many doors to me and I've met many good people thru him. He was the very best thing that EVER happened to me. Get yourself into something you like. You can focus on that have goals and as time passes your feeling of depair will lessen greatly and you will find you can enjoy life. The very sadddest thing I ever experienced was that my ass...e neighbors let their intact male pittbull run loose and he dug under my fence and killed Bear. It was worse than when my father died suddenly. I sued them. It took two years and I lost the case. In Washington state pets have no intrinsic value. So I lost my shirt to the attorneys (still have my bra) but now am working to change the State law.
Go to plays, join a community theatre, get up and out.

Haven't viewed the You Tube yet but unless something like a big voice (preferably female) blasts from the skies in every language at the same time to let us know wassup there isn't a chance of "theocracy". If there is any teeny bit of human between you and god then it is not "Theocracy".
