  So, why are YOU up at this hour?

  it's nearly midnight, and all this week we're doing some after-hours work.

  we have to do this when the agents are off the systems, thus after 11pm.

  hopefully we'll finish it up here before 2am.

  I left because of GIANT hypocracy in the cong. If anybody got up there I could hardly look at them because I knew who these people REALLY were. I thought I had been the only one who really tried to live by this stuff. I still "felt" it was "the truth" for many years (what a mind f..k that is). I've done a lot of researching but this site is the most informative....actually shockingly to me some times...shakes my old brain up. Unless you get it from here you probably won't find it.

  I'm reading C of C and unlike the rest of you it's not an easy read for me. It's like finding out your father is a seriel killer after he's dead. I'm to the part about Mexico being a "Cultural" group. I sort of remember that "theocratic warfare" blah, blah, blah but then I remembered going to an Int Ass in Mexico City in 1968. I spoke some spanish (my mom none) and it was so weird even finding where the event was, nobody had Bibles except us, no songs. Just weird. Then you find out it wasn't about "persecution" it was about materialism. One night we went to the hotel bar and met a black sister and her daughter was my age. They started having margaritas and then they were sitting on the piano singing having a great ol time. Of course we teenage daughters were mortified. As it was it was the highlight of the "convention".

  Does any real learning take place at the Kingdom Hall?

  does anyone really learn anything at the hall?

  Mouthy, I bet you just have a natural knack for public speaking. After 36 yrs there I didn't learn how to relax and speak well until I did Community Theatre and then joined Toastmasters....Toastmasters really teaches you a lot but I hate being locked into every Wed nite. Not good for my schedule. Would rather have a day meeting. Pretty nice folks there too.

  To all those who think the WT uses deliberate "subliminal" images...

  (okay, i know i said i'd be taking a break from jwd, and i will, but i just remembered something that i felt necessary to post here because it was bugging me) .

  there are some of you out there who believe the governing body meticulously crafts subliminal images that are hidden throughout the society's literature.

  you say that it is impossible for these to be mere accidents or just the work of sloppy artists because there is so much painstaking review and every image must be approved by the gb before being published.

  No doubt. I stayed there one night and what a nightmare to get a drink. Mixes in one room. alcohol in another on another floor...you have to be deturmined.

  My Crazy Aunt

  so i'm talking to my mother last night and she tells me what's beening happening since mom and dad arrived back home from their trip to visit me and the family.

  mom needed someone to watch the house and kinda oversee the nurse that would be taking care of my disabled brother, the only person she could find to do this was my father's youngest sister pinky (her childhood nickname).

  pinky is a fair weather jw (but aren't most of them?

  Good luck on your goals!!! Good advise about city bike riding. Got knocked off a bike in Boston and really reamed my arm, hand and elbow. I was passing a woman and I said "Passing on your left" she stepped right in front of me. All my father's curse training came in handy. She was a "skinny bitch" going into a deli. argh!

  SIGH... Mother troubles again...

  so i opened up my laptop last night, to check my email and such, and my mom had obviously just checked hers... she was still logged on, which has never happened before.

  i felt like i needed to look in her emails, which is not something i would normally do, as i hold privacy as something sacred.

  as some of you know, my mom lives with my hubby, me, and my kids.

  I think she's trying to put the pressure on her "elder" boyfriend so he can mount the white horse and save her. Of course, she is doing it at your expense. And that whole line "what if I am here when "the end" comes?" SO WHAT!!!!! I hope that "elder" sees how mean and manipulative she is and moves to Brazil. She needs to get a place of her own. I'm sorry you are going through this. I know it's hard but I don't think you should take this personally...it's all about HER....

  JW say df/shunning is Scriptural...How do we get around those Scriptures?

  paul of course is the mainstay of this, and i really like saying "hey lets stick to what jesus taught" but even he condemned the pharacees and others in a considerably judgemental manner.

  so what to say to my elder/dad who won't speak to my df son?

  like when paul says to not eat with them, don't say a greeting to them etc....how do we get around that?
