You are W.A.W.
by designs inthe latest moniker to describe us is making the rounds at a circuit assembly near you: w.a.w.
wicked apostate worldlings.. sat through a saturday circuit assembly, haven't been to one in years, stunningly it was a mix of deja vu and cloistered brainwashing.
deja vu in that the talks could have come from 1966, nothing has changed about the end being near, and harsher with respect to family who are not jws.

Perpetual Cognitive Dissonance
by sabastious inrevelation 7:9nwt - after these things i saw, and, look!
a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of allnations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands.. every year, as an adolescent witness, i would eagerly await the arrival of the annual "watchtower world report" issue to come out.
it had always bugged me that we were not in all the lands even though purporting to be the one and only "great crowd" decribed in the verse above.

There was a new Moron Temple built in Seattle. When done people were invited to take the tour. Afterwards it was gutted and rebuilt because non-Morons had defiled it. The temples have the golden angel Maccaroni oops I met Maroni on top a the worship of the penis based spire.

Don't make the same mistake I did
by Terry inin 1974 i had moved to california from texas and my nowhere jw janitor job to a real career in a field i loved.
(art).
i had packed my jw wife and 3 kids in my 1970 ford maverick and drove into the unknown.. mind you, this was on the very eve of a very "important date in human history".

Terry, I don't mean to be insensitive but "shit happens". Go out and get the movie, "The Butterfly Effect" with Ashton what=ever-his-name is. I go where you are sometimes. If only I had done this or that. You don't know what would have cascaded from one thing done differently and it may have gone even worse. Your wive was released from her personal demons. What ever happens in an after-this-life whether it is some other level of just the return of her energy she is free. I hope you can release this self imposed weight. It is totally human to feel as you do but it continues to drag you down and I'm sure your wife wouldn't want that. Live as much as you can. It's easy for me to say since I too beat myself up overa lot of past decisions and how unaware I was being a JW. You did the best you could have done with what you had. Pretty shitty to use a 4yr old as a control mechinism.

Your MIL is a babysitter. Period. She does not have the position or authority to "indoctrinate" your kid into anything.

Did YOU Actually Believe That You Would Never Die?
by minimus ineven though i was raised a witness, i was never convinced that the end would be in 1975 or even in my lifetime..

Well, "Perhaps" I would, if I kept doing more, studying meaningless crapola more, went to all of those boring meetings, sat for hours and hours at ass-emblies....but just "perhaps".

Oh you are all so YOUNG!!!!! In grade school I was really into folk music. The song "He's got the whole world in his hands" came out and I loved it. Untill my mother said "The whole world in lying in the hands of the wicked one". Jeez, pop my balloon.

BORN-INS: If you could go back and Change this.
by hirotaka ina question primarily derected to born-ins....doesn't matter if you're still in or out.. if you could go back in time, let's say to the time you were a teenager, before being baptised.. do you regret not telling your jw parents that you just couldn't do the jw thing anymore and that you wanted out?
i think about this often that it may have worked out much better not to get baptized, married to a jw, and have to tow that line for decades, feaful to loose family and friends.. in the end that's what happened to me anyway, five years ago and now i have the life i should have had my whole life.. what are your thoughts and feelings on this?.
cheers.

My mom basically "gave" me to the cong. specifically a married couple who studied with me. They would take me to assemblies, in service, and finally said to me (at 16) "who will survive Armegeddon? The remaining 144,000 and the Great Crowd. How does Jehovah know you are one of the Great Crowd? If you are baptized." Okay there was an assembly in Spokane and they took me and I got baptized without telling my mom. She was really pissed off when she found out. Now I feel I was bullied into this. I don't think it makes any difference about life beyond death. It's pretty irrelevant to anything unless you are a JW. My brothers were never baptized. My mother felt that it was great as she could bring them into the New World. She was very upset to the second she died that I had left. SHE judged me because I was baptized. This was a tough situation. One of my brothers had been in and out of prison and had killed someone with a hammer. My other brother was a lifetime Marine. Guns, guns, guns. But I was THE bad guy.

I left when my now ex husband was outed. I was invited to ONE elder meeting. At that meeting an elder asked my ex "was there something your wife would or wouldn't do that caused you to turn to men?" WWWWHHHHHAAAAATTTT? The end. I was gone.
