Doesn't it make you "think" that maybe none of this is what "god" intended?

Women's Place In Jehovah's Arrangement
by TMS in"i do not permit a woman to teach or to exercize authority over a man, but to be in silence.
" these inspired words are frequently quoted to help define the role of women among jehovah's witnesses.
then eve.

by Lady Liberty inhello friends,.
many while jws, (myself included) were not aware that the organization teaches that jesus is the mediator for the 144,000 only!
i was so shocked to learn this, and i thought i would post this for all the newbies and lurkers.

So does this mean we do not pray "in Jesus Name"?

So, that being said, has the "faithful and descreet slave" usurped Jesus position?

You know what? I was still in in 1979 and I totally missed this. My mom has recently said something about the "non-annointed" being symbolized by the "Nethinim" (Non Isrealite slaves or 'ministers') 'decendants of the Gibeonites' blah blah blah. Brought wood and water to the temple. Sort of like being a black joining the Mormon church (despite their 'new light).

Have you ever intentionally said crazy things from the platform?
by B_Deserter inlike have you said stuff that is just outright insane like "each and every one of us should be ready and willing to die for the society" purely in the hopes that you'd turn someone off?
i imagine for most of us trying to fade that would be the most difficult thing to do, but some people are really good at shutting down and just going with a flow, too.. .
i ask because it's the only possible explanation i can come up with for some of the really bat-shit insane stuff i've heard come from the podium.

My brother gave a talk about the Rosery and kept calling it the Rotisserie.
I gave a vagina dialogue (as sisters can't speak to the audience) and trying to make it real I had my Catholic householder not want to use the NWT so we used the Catholic Douay Version. Big mistake.

Ever encounter gypsies?
by Gregor inthere is quite large community of them in this area.
the more you get to know them or deal with them the less you like them.
what a strange and ugly culture.

I read somewhere that the term Gypsie came from the Egyptians. They travelled so far and wide that this term began associated with them.
I think that being a Gypsie would be a lot like being a JW. It's you against the world, stick together, practice "theocratic warfare". No one understands you. You are "different". At least they dress better.

Death is a Terrible thing...
by KW13 inhas it sunk in for you people that your going to die yet?
i'm still avoiding the thought but it lurks in the back of my mind, i'm aware someday i've got to address it - like many here i didnt expect to live this far in this system, so i haven't any plan for life as of yet.. death frightens me.
i cannot sometimes watch a film with death of a character in a tragic way - there one moment with family/friends and a life and then not...i read the story about challenger the rocket that exploded and how the crew onboard that shuttle may well of been aware they were going to die.

Not afraid of death. Just the process. I'm just "doin time" here anyway.

How do JW's react when learning that Jehovah is not part of Christianity?
by oompa injehovah this, jehovah that......6 times per page in the old testament.
but oh how few jw's know that the name jehovah does not even appear in the christian greek scriptures....or new testatment as i prefer.
i used to be so proud of our real bible, the nwt for restoring the divine name thousands of times in the ot.

I guess I'm revealing the extent of cool aid I drank but I thought it was the Tetragramitin YHVH that was God's name but the scribes etc felt it was too holy to write so they replaced it with LORD, GOD, etc and someone came up with putting the vowels from ELOHIM in between the consenants. (Why you would just go ahead and do that and say UREKA! is a little presumptous...don't cha think). If the Catholics came up with it why don't they use it.
