October 2015 AWAKE article writes:
This experiment led Jeffrey H. Schwartz, a professor of anthropology, to conclude that while adaptation may help a species survive under changing circumstances, “it is not creating anything new.”
Email response from scientist to Reddit User Myxomatosis_Reddit user u/opinionmill pointed out in another thread that they've used the quote before:
Not only is it dishonest, it's recycled from the Was Life Created? brochure. Found this on jehovahs-witness.com :
The quote : In 1999, evolutionary theorist Jeffrey H. Schwartz wrote that natural selection may be helping species adapt to the changing demands of existence, but it is not creating anything new. Source : Sudden Origins—Fossils, Genes, and the Emergence of Species, by Jeffrey H. Schwartz, 1999, pp. 317-320
Fact : In criticizing Darwin, Dr. Schwartz does not dispute his theory that humans, animals and plants evolved from other species. In fact, one of his books, "The Red Ape," argues that orangutans, not chimpanzees, are the closest evolutionary relatives of human beings. He does take issue with two key parts of traditional Darwinian thinking, though -- gradualism and adaptation.

Has any apostate ever lied at a JC about being apostate?
by purrpurr ini watched/ listened to the brave and courageous souls on youtube who bravely recorded their jc's.
you really see a different and horrid side to the elders there.
it might sound whimpy but i don't think i would be able to stand strong like those guys did.

You need to remember that according to the GB, it's okay to withhold truth:
From WT library
*** it-2 p. 245 Lie ***
While malicious lying is definitely condemned in the Bible, this does not mean that a person is under obligation to divulge truthful information to people who are not entitled to it. Jesus Christ counseled: “Do not give what is holy to dogs, neither throw your pearls before swine, that they may never trample them under their feet and turn around and rip you open.” (Mt 7:6) That is why Jesus on certain occasions refrained from giving full information or direct answers to certain questions when doing so could have brought unnecessary harm. (Mt 15:1-6; 21:23-27; Joh 7:3-10) Evidently the course of Abraham, Isaac, Rahab, and Elisha in misdirecting or in withholding full facts from nonworshipers of Jehovah must be viewed in the same light.
I would say elders are included as those not entitled to know the personal aspects of your life.Link +12 / -0 -

An experience of just how screwed over Wt has got them.
by joe134cd inalthough i find this unsurprising, i think it worth mentioning as it demonstrates a point.

27 Questions
by Saintbertholdt ini've been on and off the forum for a couple of years now.
mostly lurking.. the last time i set foot in a kingdom hall was back in 2005 before i disassociated myself formally.. over the years i've kept up with the doctrinal changes and changes in practices.
the problem is that because i haven't been practically experiencing these changes, much of the new information has not stuck clearly in my head.

What does "Need Greaters" mean?
THE WATCHTOWER (STUDY EDITION) APRIL 2015Elders, How Do You Feel About Training Others?
IN SOME parts of the world, numerous congregations receive much help in the form of “need greaters”—brothers and sisters who have moved in from abroad. These self-sacrificing Witnesses have a large share in bringing in the spiritual harvest. But what would happen if these hardworking Kingdom preachers were to leave the country? In many congregations, there would not be enough qualified local brothers to care for all the congregation responsibilities. Hence, “need greaters” serving as elders have a compelling mission—that of helping local brothers to become shepherds of the flock.

If you go to the Amazon link Watchtower-Free posted and then "Look inside", it has this quote:
Still others, such as Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormons have been highly visible for many decades. In the early editions of Combating Mind Control, I did not include stories about those aberrant Christian groups.
However, over the years I have been contact by many people who were born into those organizations, telling me how the book helped them.
Paradoxically, because the earlier editions didn't mention either group, the book wasn't banned by church leaders and so it was widely read by church members as a result

4. Presiding Overseer is called the Coordinator for the Body of Elders, or COBE.
12. "Need Greaters". Maybe I wasn't paying attention before, but this latest Watchtower study was the first time I read that expression in print.
20. There are no longer two day conventions, just one day
