  when i was a jw several brothers (ms) told me in private that the elders had asked them several times if they did not want to become an elder.

  they said they rejected because it was too much responsibility for them.

  were you ever approached that the boe wanted to make you an elder but you refused?

  Can Elders who resigned or were demoted ever be reinstated as Elders?

  my cousin and another elder in my congregation were demoted{they were asked to resign} about 5 years ago.

  they both had teens who were disfellowshipped at the same time.

  the reasoning was that,'' if you can't control your own household how can you control members in god's house.

  When I resigned as a MS the PO said this was no problem and that he resign years ago over his son and got reappointed again.

  this is an out there discussion, and probably running a little ahead of the organisation but.....

  ever since rutherford took charge, the organisation has over shadowed the actual "hands on" worship, i.e.

  in one year alone, it was pointed out on this forum, if a witness read all of the literature and the bible as prescribed, it would be like 120 pages of the bible and over 3000 pages of watchtower printed material.

  The WTS will be continue to be used as is IBSA. If they would cease those organizations the Russellite Bible Students would take over the names.

  How many times did you read to the householder the "generation" scripture and said "you see? It is very close now. That's the proof".

  I did it so many times. What a fool!

  I did it to working collegues. Must have been 93/94. I gave a witness at work to the three persone from the department and also went into detail of the "generation of 1914". They said: "There are not many people of that generation still alive." - I replied: "So, you see how close we are."

  I remeber the change in '95 very well because I had had a discussion on the topic with my father just shortly before the change. There was a hint at a circuit convention that a change was going to be published. There were two articles that evolved to the change and there was a QfR in the issue. So this was bigger than a mere sentence that this is what we believe now.
