there seems to be a problem with incense burning now!
this is from the watchtower website: http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/2003/6/1/article_01.htm.
a) they are running out of crap to publish.
dear friends.
do you know why the "reasoning" book was reprinted in 1989 after 4 years of published?
because there were some problems with the editor of a greek-english lexicon, by liddell & scott.
I remember that in the "cross"-section they referred to "xylon" as meaning wood and that it was used for the sticks carried by those who came to find Jesus. That was dropped in the later edition. I have always wondered why this was dropped.
with it being friday and i am itching to get off work and have a couple days off... .

after reading megadudes review of what he thought of the movie, i really want to see it now.. gore doesn't really bother me in movies, like braveheart, saving private ryan etc.
i hate the slasher movies for the sake of gore thou.. i guess i am the type of person that is so curious about everything, that even if it is gorey, i would want to know what jesus went thru, as painful as it may be to watch.. but should you let your children see it........ since i havent seen it , i was wondering for those who have seen it,,,,,,,,would you let your kids see it?.
what age,,do you think is appropriate ?
I think children that are used to books like "My Book of Bible Stories" and "Learning from the Great Teacher" will not see anything new, will they?
remember a few years ago 97 and down even more there use to be food at the assemblys(not the big rent-astadium ones).
i remember back then probally being 5,6,7,8 they use to give out food like hots hamburgers chips and so.
any idea why there isnt anymore?
In Germany the JW knew the companies/brands that delivered food for the assemblies/conventions. I heard from the inside that it was a fierce competition between brothers working for the companies to deliver to the Society.
One brother became especially prominent: he was a Sales Manager at a food company that deliverd meat and other stuff. He guaranteed that no blood was involved in the production and even stressed that from the platform. So he delivered most of the food. It was of less than average quality so at a circuit convention a responsible JW tried to change the food company and got into some trouble with the Society - despite the meat was of better quality, cheaper and also without blood.
The brother in favor of the Society was also City Overseer and Convention Overseer. His whole family got kind of prominent. Of course he had a Mercedes company car...
this morning on the radio, they had a little contest to see who could nail the worst band name on a list made by some ideot.
i tried to get through, but i was wrong anyway.
the #1 worst band name was the beatles?
In Germany there is a band "Die angefahrenen Schulkinder" - which means "Pupils Involved in Car Accidents"
i'm trying to get some comments that active jehovah's witnesses may have heard after dateline aired back on may 28, 2002.
do you remember any comments made about the dateline program either made from the platform at the kingdom hall, or in private conversations with other jw's?
how were the people who where on dateline viewed in your area, especially at the kingdom hall or by other jws?
Joyzabel,
I think it was a transcipt talk, a talk that was read word-by-word from the paper. It will appear in th Wachtower this year as a study article.
The remark about the eight persons from a local circuit is apparently not from the transcript. It is a local remark.
I know that convention parts have to be presented several times in front of the CO and the DO. I think this addition to the transript is noteworthy.
Hope to be clear now, I am sorry, I am not a native speaker.
This is from the talk that I recorded from last summer's convention:
I think it is very unusual to insert a remark like that. I understand the "Beware of the voice of strangers"-talk to be a transcript talk that you will find word-by-word in one of the 2004 Watchtowers.
But I think your quote is out-of-the-transcript. I do not think that this was done without the approval of the District Overseer.
one of the down sides of the web is not knowing the various posters status; married, involved, looking, and lost...suspect a lot of those here!
my status is complicated...mostly by me!
i have a couple of admirers that would like to lock me down but i keep dancing around the whole issue.
married, 2 kids
