  i thought after recently reading the bible i would put up for disussion some recent scriptures up which for me show that jesus never viewed himself as god and anyone listening would also see it this way too.. first mark 10 :17-20.

  If Jesus was not God (in the Trinitarian sense), then why did he allow people to worship him? It's clear that all of the good angels did not accept worship from any human, and directed them all to worship God alone. But Jesus did not deny people from worshipping him.

  By the way, don't use the NWT. The WT has replaced the word "worship" with "do obeisance".

  on the thread about the pdf for the 2003 listening to the great teacher book, i posted about the arguement my hubby and i had over this book when it first came out.

  i threw out the 2 copies my kids had and then regretted it because i think this book is very telling about the wt organization and the issue of pedophiles and child molestation.

  i wanted to address what happened here too for discussion.. i am not good at copying over texts so perhaps someone else can post here pages 59-60 in this book where sexual content is explained in vivid detail using the terms penis and vulva.

  Wow, this is crazy but this weekend I was cleaning up around the house and I found my copy of this book. I hadn't read through any of it since I got it so I decided to flip through it. I also stumbled onto this page about the "making demons happy" part and I was seriously shocked.

  That sort of language should NEVER be found in a children's book, especially a book that's supposed to focus on Jesus. It's disturbing to think that there are J-Dubs out there reading this book to their kids and see nothing wrong with it. What disturbs me the most is the extreme to which they have taken to outlaw masturbation: Now they're trying to tell kids that it would "make demons happy" if they touch themselves, a topic that was not covered in the Bible.

  This book came out in about 2003, right? They must have been trying to cover their a$$es since the pedophile scandal was becoming public.

  i realize that i was stuck believing in jw almost all my life.

  and that each person has to see the light for themselves.. but it was partly the hypocrisy, partly the internet, partly my brother, ex-jw, and partly thinking on my own that did it.. there are smart enough people on the board, is there anything we can do to bring the whole jw thing down?.

  there must me some way, some thing, we can do.

  Bringing down the Tower? That scenario plays in my head almost every other day... As a group, I think we are smart enough to bring it down. But we would have to bring it down from the inside, and cause it all to implode......

  the wts have a history of false prophecies, including teachings that armageddon and the end of the world would occur in 1914, 1918, 1925, and 1975. .

  most of us didn't see that the true point of authority was not the bible, but the watchtower magazine, awake magazine,ministry school and the ever-changing views of the governing body.

  the word of god in the bible does not change and a prophecy that does not come true is not of god's doing.

  What's even sadder, is that most of the members still coming in have almost no clue as to what they really teach or that they're listening to money-rich, false prophets. I feel sorry for them... Their souls may be doomed...

  I've got a funny story that links to this book...

  During the time that I was finding out the "truth" about the truth, my wife still believed in the Society. Well, when the 2006 edition of this book was released, we got ourselves a copy and decided that we would start studying it together. I also brought out the old edition and started to use it as well. Well, we didn't get very far (we started somewhere in the middle of the book) when I immediately noticed that they had revised the damn book!! This edition was one more stepping stone to get her OUT of the WT.

  It's funny how reading through the book, I now see how ridiculous it is when they apply every single scripture to the Watchtower. Who do they think they are? (Nobody answer that, it's a rhetorical question!)

  Why I Hate Fredrick Franz so much!

  imagine you lived thru many, many false prophecies 1879......1914.......1918......1925 {when the other franz's gave up}.......1940's {rutherford said the fascist would start armagedon}..........and then you start you own false prophecy 1975........what is wrong with this man?

  he saw the damage this caused....the thousands that left in droves each time!

  yet before he goes senile he has one more crack at it, sending maybe 1.5 million brothers apostate??

  The man had to be insane!

  On top of everything else everyone has already stated, (and I forgot which book I read this in..), he blamed the Witnesses for the failure of 1975! If I remember right, the quote goes something like this:

  "Do you know why nothing happened in 1975? It's because YOU expected something to happen!" (Pointing to the audience)
