2009 will be here in a few weeks.

that will put us only 5 years away from the 100 anniversary of christ's return in 1914. is the watchtower planning anything to commemorate this historic event?

do you think they will have special addition of the watchtower?

Well you have to remember that Christ only "turned his attention towards the earth", the "last days" began then, and Satan was "hurled to the earth" in that year. Oh wait, maybe they'll celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the End of the Gentile Times! Yeah! Invisibly!

Anyone know Franz said Armagedon originally in 1974 then 75 then 76!!

i remember a watchtower on adam and eve's creation from the late 1950's saying that 6,000 years ends in 1974!!!!

then we know in the late !960's it was 1975.....and if i'm not wrong in crisis of conscience ray said that franz's again wanted to change the date to 1976 i think...but knorr questioned him over it........anyone have this info.

it's hard to find.

If I recall correctly, Fred Franz tried to change the 1975 date to 1974 sometime in the early 70's. Something about the chronology being off by one year. Knorr rejected it, and it stayed as 1975. Ray pointed this out in COC.

okay so we know the scriptures say alot about "love of money" "greed" and so on...but not one verse says "thou shalt not gamble thy money.

" so if it's about greed and the love of money i know many brothers who work 60 hours a week making big bucks even though they live comfortably.

$$$$ if a brother has a bet now and then why is this a disfellowshiping "greedy" sin.

Witnesses "Praying" That We Come Back

my mother tells me she prays to jehovah every night that i come back to "the truth".

recently, i did something nice for my extremist jw aunt and she was moved by my generosity.

this is the same woman that refused to acknowledge my presence in a hospital room when i visited my uncle.

Hmm... Interesting thought. I don't know if my relatives are praying for me, but so far it hasn't worked. There's something about too many false prophecies that keep me away...

I agree that the economy is falling apart. I don't know how much worse it's going to get, but I'm also not going to pretend it's not happening. I'm taking certain precautions because I think it's still going to get much worse.

Religious-wise, well, "no one knows the day or the hour" so what's the point in guessing? I'd rather stand ready in case the 2nd Coming does occur, rather than start panicking.

i had the #4 talk tonite on 2nd peter-why beneficial.

i talked about you mean ol' postates.

i used 2pet 2:1-3 and even said the internet was a tool of satan to snare christians today.

I think it's admirable. If I could, I would do the same, but my situation has become more and more precarious. That, and I don't know how long I could keep up the farce.

Hopefully you are able to plant some seeds of doubt. Next time, instead of reinforcing their fears, try to get them to think instead. The Society has written a few articles in the past that encourages examining one's beliefs. Maybe if you could somehow make it apply to them, so you cause a few to think.

Or you could just plug the "don't visit websites such as <insert here>" into one of your talks.

Keep up the charade! The GB does it... so why can't you?

Excellent work!

How hypocritical of the Witnesses. They spend a billion hours a year making other people question their religious beliefs when they themselves refuse to question their own.
