  "apostates" are considered by the wt to be the worst kind of sinners, and summarily shunned at all costs.

  while there is no scriptural basis for this when the seeming proof-texts are analyzed....fear and loyalty to the org always allow this to keep going on.

  in the book of matthew, jesus was tempted by the satan the devil.

  1914 only mentioned ONCE in new book! Can anyone confirm this?

  in the new release, 'bearing thorough witness about gods kingdom' i could only find a single reference to 1914 on page 31. this is it;.

  "each year, hundreds of thousands accept this offer and become baptized disciples of christ.

  indeed, we are living at the time of the "restoration of all things" referred to by peter.

  Although 1914 is only mentioned once in this new book, it does not mean it is going away.

  The foundation of the current Watchtower religion is that the Kingdom was established in that year. They've stated and re-stated that their message is different from Christendom, in that they are preaching, not of a coming kingdom, but of onealready established. That's the key part.

  If they were to do away with 1914, what would their message be? They would also have to select another year for the start of the "last days", for the approximate time period Satan was kicked out of heaven (because it wasn't necessarily in 1914, but on or after it), and for their 1919 appointment.

  It ain't happening anytime soon. Sorry people.

  from the watchtower november 15 study edition.. 19 when we are being represented in public prayer, we need to display reverential "fear of god.

  " (1 pet 2:17) there may be a proper time and place for some actions that would be inappropriate at a christian meeting.

  (eccl 3:1) for instance, suppose someone sought to have all in a group link arms or hold hands during prayer.

  That's stupid. My wife and I used to hug each other during prayer because we loved God and ourselves. Isn't marriage a three-fold cord or whatever? God, husband, and wife?

  How is it stumbling if you express affection through the simplest of ways?

  Is this for real? I can't believe it! Look at some of the lyrics about the "faithful slave"! This cult is just becoming more and more cultish. Where the hell in the Bible did any apostle or person mention that they need to follow and obey such a "faithful slave" on earth?? Nowhere!

  but, we went because hubby wanted to tell the elders we are switching halls.. at first, i thought to myself that i would go out back with her when she gets fussy.

  but, my baby doesn't really get fussy a lot so i just took her out back and played with her as she laughed hysterically.

  There's no way to know for sure how bad they're doing. Judging from all the changes they've made in recent years, I'm sure it was due to the 1990 donation change.

  Now with the recent economic climate getting worse, they're gonna have to find other ways to generate some cash. And religion ain't it.

  Can you prove that only 144,000 anointed JWs go to heaven?

  one core jw teaching is the idea that only 144,000 go to heaven, which is wrong.

  here is the first of many reasons why that teaching can't be sustained by scripture.

  any other reasons you can think of?.

  Watchtower in the 1950's said Armagedon was coming in 1976!!!!!! Not 1975!

  watchtower way back in 1955 p. 93-95 explains that 6,000 years of human history would end in........1976!

  a decade later in franz's book "life everlasting freedom sons of god" 1966 his chart revised one year down to 1975.. "crisis of conscience" mentions how knorr argued with franz in the early 70's as he wanted to revise it back to 1976....anyone remember this!.

  Actually, Franz wanted to change it to 1974, but Knorr wouldn't allow it.

  The debacle about 1975 is this: The Society did not directly state in print that 1975 would bring Armageddon. But they insinuated it. They published all kinds of articles that stated it was a "probability". But think about this: They had already experienced many other prophetic failures, i.e. 1914, 1918, 1920, 1925, and 1941. They knew what they were doing when they started predicting 1975. They knew they couldn't come right out and state it.
