  How do angels and demons influence mankind?

  wts publications, and indeed virtually all religions on this planet, assert that angels and demons have regular influence on mankind, on individual human beings as well as on the general course of human events.. but i've never read anything specific about how they supposedly accomplish this.. do they tweak our neurons?

  do they fiddle with our hormones, thereby making us feel good or bad about a certain course of action?

  do they inject thoughts into our brains, perhaps in such a subtle way that we think those are our own thoughts?

  that answer [about why there is evil in the world] involves unseen spirits, agents of evil.

  Then still Jehovah is not all that powerful if he can't reign in a few bad spirits. He can only suffer the evil in the world through His own choice.

  I have yet to see any bad act that didn't have a perfectly human explanation - no spirits required.

  I've seen Light many times but only seen Dark as the absence of Light, not a personified evil.

  I don't recall ever seeing the WTS profess that angels influence our lives, only Satan and his Demons.

  Thanks for the WT postings, ATJeff and Blondie - I hadn't realized that Satan couldn't read my mind. I guess I can get through life with a poker face, then! I wonder, though...can they see in the dark, like my cat?

  There is naturally a tremendous amount of resistance to something that threatens so many interests.

  I'm reminded of the reliance on coal for heating in Great Britain. In the end, the escalating deaths due to pollution changed policy to eliminate coal heating. This is a comment on how public policy is informed by physical reality, and how business interests must bow to survival interests, and not a sweeping endorsement of global warming thought. We can actually look at realtively recent history for some lessons on vested interests making way for survival interests.

  My Witness Sister Asks Me For Her Inactive Daughters Phone Number ?

  amazingly enough my jw sister ( very self righteous ex-gilead graduate ) called me for the first time in 3 years asking for her own 32 year old inactive daughters phone number .

  her husband's mom died last friday , my brother -in -laws mom , and she said she had not talked with her daughter, my niece , in 5 years.

  my sister dissapproved of her daughter getting a law degree at a university in california and shunned her for 5 years because her daughter stopped going to meetings to get an education !

  My father's mom upon hearing my father was reinstated called my mom: "Tell [my son] I am pleased he has come back to Jehovah."

  Mom: "Tell him yourself." I mean, geez, my parents are both there in the same house!

  in very layman's terms can some help me why this date is important to the jw 607 theory?

  i'm trying to show my wife that the wts is wrong on the 607 date.

  i told her that no respected scholar agrees with that date.

  i have to wrap a couple of christmas presents, make a batch of fruitcakes and wrap them this evening.

  i need to clean the kitchen first - need to spend a few hours on a project.

  i am putting a couple of our classes online - have finally figured out how to do it all, now need to sit down and write the code.

  Pick up Marie Callendars Feast-in-a-Box for tomorrow - after 20 years of cooking for a household of people, we are ALONE and LOVING IT this year!

  Go to market - out of cookies. Must have cookies. Lots of cookies.

  Drop off a job application - would like to work a little closer to the house. Gotta put this Certified Business Analyst crediential to better use.

  Cook a nice, soft dinner for my partner - after a root canal and a tooth extraction, he needs some kind attention and something easy to nibble. I'm thinking soup. Other suggestions?

  Work on Track 9 of the latest VoidEater CD. If you were looking at a CD, how many songs would you expect/demand?

  I really feel bad for my Dad. The only reason he stays in is that he is convinced that in the last days of the destruction of this system of things that he will need to rely on others to survive. It keeps him trapped.

  I think my mom only stays in out of habit and for the social relationships.

  NWT translation of Daniel 1:2 and 607

  do you know why the nwt starts verse 2 of daniel ch.

  1 with the words "in time..." which are not in the original hebrew text nor in any of the english translations i checked?.

  has it to do with supporting their 607 b.c.e.

  After attending meetings in several states, I can only ever recall folks talking about getting the prize of eternal life and avoiding the stick of eternal destruction. Oh, once in a while a talk might say something like, "And doesn't ministering to the psiritual needs of our neighbors show our Christian love for them?" - but none, not one, even of the ones I liked, none of the Witnesses I know talk about doing this service out of care or compassion - it's always been put in terms of paying the price for the prize.

  I would hope that I'm wrong, that there are hordes of Witnesses doing their service in the spirit of love - but that would seem to show too much care for "the world", to preach or whatever because it makes the world a better place. We all know only God can make the world a better place, so why evern try? Isn't WRONG to try to make the world a better place?

  I think my Christian upbringing is coming out...
