I know that I am screwed up! Even to this day (been DF'd for 16 yrs.). Lot better than I used to be though. I'm wondering if the level that a person is "screwed up" relates to the amount of time that he/she spent in the JW's? I was raised as a JW, thus years and years of "programming". Do you think that if a person gets involved in the witlesses later in life and gets out after 3-4 years can escape less damaged?

OK DF'd stories...hhhmmmmmmmmm
1st time for me kinda sucked. I was drunk at the JC meeting (not "sloppy", but had a good beer buzz on) so I honestly don't remember every detail except that at the end my ass was DF'd!
2nd time...I really tried to not get DF'd (turned on the water works, the whole 9 yards) But alas, did not work. 30 minutes later...DF'd again.
The interesting thing here is that out of the collective 6 elders in my JC's (2 completely seperate JC's, different congs.) presently one is dead, the other 5 no longer active. Another interesting factoid...and this is the TRUTH....one of the elders in my initial JC is now DF'd himself. The reason: Getting "handsy" with the younger "sisters" in the congregation....one of these "sisters" was my girlfriend that I was DF'd for schtuping! Boggles the mind! ahhhh the memories.
it's bad enought that young people in the wt have to sell magizines, risk shunning when they find out the truth about the gb... but this article really makes me laugh and angry at the same time.
the part that made me the maddest was when the father said he "conquered" the habit, lying bastard!

I always hated that feeling, when I was about 14 or 15, when you realized what the talk was gonna be about that Sunday. From the stage some crusty old elder would dust off that old chestnut of a talk.....Fornication, Homesexuality and Masturbation.
They're up there on the stage talkin about how 99.9% (or whatever BS % they used) of male youth actively participate in "self-abuse". Probably just my imagination, but I could just feel the critical looks being shot my way! I'm sittin there thinking...."hmmmmmm I am a youth, I am male...wonder if they are "on to me?" lol

I think that demons were a big one for me. Fear of them was inculcated in me since I could remember. Cannot believe that it's right to tell a 3-4 year old child that unseen and ghastly creatures called demons could attack at any time. It scared the s$%t outta me. The worst part, even later in life, was the teaching that one could fall under a "demon attack" for just about anything. Buying something at a garage sale or having something in your house that you are not even aware of. It is such BULLS%^T!
Fortunately, my "demons" have been confronted and dealt with....but it took a LONG time!
i was wondering if this was being taught in the congregations.
my sister who is still a jw told me this the other day when i said that the wtbts has only been around for a short time, relatively speaking.. my mother, who hasn't been to a meeting in years, agrees with her.
what is being taught now with regards to this, does anyone know?
Funny thing...this string just brought back yet another memory. When I was young, just out of simple curiousity, I asked my Dad (elder) who the first JW was. He simply answered JC. Even at my young age, probably 4or 5, it just didn't ring true. Anyway, interesting thread here....
I never thought about the society actually declaring who the first JW was. We all know here that it was the convicted felon, CT Russell. I don't believe that the name was changed from "International Bible Students" in his time though? Was it? Don't think it was...so that would mean that HE wasn't even a JW!

that being said and acknowledged however , think about what makes us not trust others as ex-witnesses.

As a newbie...I would like to say that I have found my experience(s) on this site informative and pleasant. I was welcomed aboard the very first time that I posted. This is an incredible forum. Only people that were raised or spent time involved in the JW's can TRULY empathize with each other. I would like to thank Mr. Flipper and the organizers of this site for an opportunity to have true and meaningful interaction with other folks that can appreciate each others circumstances.
I feel that the site is well-balanced between light conversation, doctrinal issues and personal experiences. It is enjoyable to visit here and see that one is not alone with memories of their sometimes traumatized pasts.
