Do you still believe in God
by solidergirl ini was wondering why da or df jw no longer believe in god when they make up their mind to no longer attend a meeting.
first off let's not say that all of us become athiest when leaving.
many on this board believe in god.

First off let's not say that all of us become athiest when leaving. Many on this board believe in God. But a large marjority of believers who were formerly JW do not post here and they go to a more Christian community.
I fell out of my chair to laugh that what I call a serious GET WITH. Make me want to revise my statement.

Did I ever tell you guys that once I got a beating (one of the worst beatings) for not putting the 2.00 in the contribution box? Yeah, well I wanted ice cream so I put 1.00 in the box and kept the other. One of the Elders saw me and told my parents. I don't know if they were more embarassed because they were only giving 2.00 or if it was me taking on of the measly 2.00
Thats messed and funny. I got in troube once when I "stole" money form the contribution box we kept at home. All I wanted was a extra snack for school. I was pointing the most money in it any way.

Welcome In my case shunning ones that you know are going to shun you works. People don't like to be ingore thats why when your younger you play that i'm not listening game with your siblings. People only have as much power as you give them. To take away that power is like a sin in their eyes. Kinda of like a school yard bully you don't stand up to him he takes your lunch money. But when you do work up the nerve to stand up to him you walk away with your money and pride maybe a black eye or two. You took away his power form him and to on lookers you made him look weak. Plus he will think twice before coming at you again.

My Daugthers refusal to join us for secular holidays!
by KARINNJIM ini don't understand, why my daugther refuses to come to her home during both thanksgiving and christmas.
we are trying to understand her beliefs, and keep an open mind.
we just want her to come and partake of being with her family....during these family times.

I'm twenty I don't know how old your daughter is but I was a JW for 10 years. I would stand and defend JW anytime anyday which made it hard for my dad who wanted me to prusue college. He didnt really push the holidays on me just gave me stuff before or after the actual holiday. He would call me on my B-Day and stand money in the mail. One thing for sure was he didnt push me away and we compromise on a lot of things. Dont push her away or attack her religion. One thing that they teach you is how to defend your religion and how to avoid those that don't believe. Set aside days to be together and always keep the door open.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult and here's why I think so
by B_Deserter inwhen most people think of "cult" they think of the people's temple, the branch davidians, or heaven's gate.
many also want to put jehovah's witnesses, mormons, and scientologists into this group.
i don't agree with that because there is one main difference between true cults and high-control groups like jws:.

JW are indeed a cult. It seems like everynight before I go to bed instead of saying my daily prays I say I hate JWs. Not the people but the bloodguilty org for breaking up my strong black family that use to stand up for each other regardless. I mad to the point of wanting to cry. I just got over my fears of birds I use to think they was gathering for the big A. I think I'm going to need a therpist.

They should pay
by dinah injust reading this board and seeing the effects of this religion makes me sick.
sure those who stay in, who are spiritually asleep (imho) are okay--but what about those of us who woke up?
what about those of us who have anxiety issues?

I would say you live and learn and then get luvs but u cant get that time back. You cant go back in time and to tell someone that you really did care about them and your not going to allow religion to get in your way of real love. You cant tell a love one you lost sorry for missing your funeral I thought the demons were going to pull me in if I went inside the church. You just got to move on and start from strach. But your right revenge is a dish best serve cold.

Funeral I went to Saturday, has made me think a lot about. . .
by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit inthis fabulous 42 yr old, fun, smart, dear wife and mother of 2 teenage boys.
she was incredibly close to her older sister, they were best friends, and naturally the whole large family is devastated.
even her sons' basketball coach stood up to speak of her and sobbed uncontrollably about how dear a person she was, especially dying so young.

That funny we all can listen to others peoples beliefs without judgeing them. You think thats because right before we left we all were judge in the worst way.
