How Have You Gone About Making Friends Since Leaving the Witnesses ?
by flipper ini've noticed lately that some on our board, or perhaps for many of us, that's why i'm writing this , have had a challenge making new friends after leaving the jehovah's witnesses religion.
it has been a mixed bag for me.
i have met some through my wife, who is not a witness.

Thats what I call self righteous thinking. She made herself look like an ass hole. The sister was probably thinking mother like daughter. I never remember Jesus shunning anyone. He even talk to the Pharises ( I know I spell that wrong) King David still talk to Saul even preserve his life after it was a known fact that Saul no longer had Jehovah holy spirit.

Thanks Aude Sapere for the welcome. Your right R. Crusoe I am using my own heart. Some days I'll wake up and look at my own reflextion and ask myself who are you. I honestly didn't know who I was. Now I'm taking time to really get to know myself and be myself around other people.

College problems for daughter
by Stopthem ini need electronic copies of anything in the watchtower or anything else speaking against college and higher education, preferably from the october 15 2005 wt and onward.
my bright, intelligent 17-year-old daughter just informed me that she's decided against going to college because of all the garbage her kingdumb hall has told her.
her mother started up going to jw about 4 years ago, and i guess i wasn't watching what they were doing to my daughter closely enough (but then, they don't want you to).

I suggest you take her to the college and scout out local kingdom halls in that area. If she is real stubborn about it which she will most likely be let her know its important to get some kind of trade. Without some kind of skill she won't be able to make it. Most of the time JWs aspect you to get married and the women will pioneer while the husbands work. Just be patient and not argumental try.

Avoiding an Elder
by R.F. ini'm almost six months past walking away from the religion, and one of the elders has risen and thrown a monkey wrench into my entire plan.
things have been great actually.
since i've managed to shed myself of congregation responsiblities, the elders have gotten off my back quite a bit.

I personally think its crazy that were fugitives in our own homes. I could understand if we were active and wearing a I'm a Jehovah Witness shirt. Why put your nuts in a bunch if someone no longer wants to be a JW. Why we got to go through the whole DA process. Its just stupid I can understand DF but DA its retarded. If we get judge based on what we do and what we think than theres no point in the whole DF or DA process. All it those is break families up and make you out to be a criminal.

For those of you who don't go to meetings anymore...
by exwitless inwhen you attended your last meeting ever as a dub, did you know it was your last?
did something happen which made it clear in your mind you were 'never going back' (not to be confused with nvrgnbk)?.
the last meeting we went to was the memorial in 2006. we only went because we knew we were already pegged for the elders' unwanted attention, so we had to go to keep them off our backs a little longer.

I knew I wasnt going back to a meeting again when I rode with my brother to the sunday meeting. He had to leave early cause he had to go to work so he asked me to ask one of the sisters for a ride home. I'm not saying they would of said no I just didn't want to sit through the watchtower or talk to the elders afterwards for MY life decisions. So I rode back home with him or course he was mad at me and he's not even a diehard witness and that was in October 2007 I just cant do it anymore.

So close to sending in the letter
by PoppyR inso, i found out today that my whole family, that is mother, older brother wife and child, older sister and husband, younger brother and wife have gone away together for a week.. previously i would have been right in the center of all that.
this time i didn't even know until after they'd gone.
cant say it doesn't hurt, what a punch to the gut.

So many things led up to it. 1.) I got tire of throwing away my rated R movies. They were mine and I'm over 18. 2.) When I was dating a brother that was perfect according to JW standards and everybody kept getting in our business. 3.) When I saw the way my aunt treated my cousin who was disfellowship. 4.) When I saw how happy my cousins were that never got baptized and how normal there lives were. 5.) I notice that I started spending more time with my "wordly family" after I stop going out in field service. 6.) When I didn't feel bad for missing the meetings to go to night school. 7.) I don't feel bad for my decison to go into the military. What made everything final was when I was sitting at a table with my co-worker and told her that i was no longer one of JW and i wasn't even Df.
