hi there , do you celebrate your wedding anniversary ? because i believe weddings and rings have pagan origins ! that was one thing that helped me stop feeling guilty about celebrating the birth of christ , his reserection along with the arrival of some choclate eggs to hunt in the garden from the easter bunny ! i just dont take things so seriously now , last year was the 1st time i actually even saw halloween as just some harmless kids fun (i havnt been to a meeting for about 14 years !) but halloween was one thing i could not do untill last year when my little girl was upset that all her school frinds were knocking on the door dressed up but i hadnt got her an outfit for halloween for her ! next year she will do it also wth my blessing as it is just harmless fun and nothing to do with evil at all ! i have had a lot of pleasure seeing her hunt for easter eggs from the easter bunny and it makes me sad that my older children missed out on all this fun . by the way my little girl loves reading her childrens bible (from school ) and loves god ! (not due to any brain washing from me either , its just the way she is !)

Your View of Holidays and Their Origins
by headisspinning ini am very curious about something... for those of you who have left the organization but still follow the bible and consider yourself christian... what holidays and celebrations have you embraced?.
how do you rationalize celebrating despite your knowledge of 'pagan' origins?.
i was born and raised a jw so it would seem really strange for me to start celebrating christmas or hallowe'en or easter - maybe mother's or father's day wouldn't be such a stretch - but i would really like to hear your thoughts and the conclusions you've come to.. but i have to say i never got a satisfying answer as to why jws aren't allowed to celebrate birthdays - the explanation that it promotes greed or selfishness or that the only record in the bible of birthday celebrations involved murder - none of these really cut it for me.. thanks - his .

Informally witnessing to a witness !
by man in black inthis was pretty neat !.
an elderly lady who lives behind us lost her husband to cancer two years ago.
she has been doing alright, her two grown sons have been helping her out a lot.

i dont think witnesses do good deeds for worldly people out of kindness just a need to give "a good witness " to score points for jehovah !

Sex at 14?
by headisspinning inhello all.... some of you have been following our story from the beginning - and even those of you who haven't should be able to relate to my quandary.... last week my 14 year old son told me he no longer wants to be a jw.
we laboured over telling his jw dad all week.
well, on friday night he finally came clean.. but in a bizarre and unexpected twist, after having sex with his girlfriend for the very first time - in his father's home that very afternoon.

hi there julia ! hope you well , iwas only 14 when i was first pressured into sex by my abusive 17 year old boyfriend , i hated it and didnt bother again till i was 17 with a loving nice boyfriend ( it was much better with him ) your problem of course is that if your son is only 14 , just how young is his girlfriend ? maybe you should have a chat with her and make sure she is capable of understanding what she is doing (i wasnt at that age , i remember saying to my boyfriend "if you had just stayed still instead of moving up and down all the time it wouldnt have hurt me so much !!!!) you could encourage her to talk to her mum about being safe ! my 19 year old son is a med studant and goes round schools teaching kids about contraception and stds etc , i think he only recently lost his virginity but my 23 year old daughter was actually pregnant at 13 by her 43 year old abuser (she lost the baby ) and i never found out till she was 20 ! she would never have dreamed of talking to me about sex at 13 and just hoped she would not get" caught out " think yourself lucky he was able to confide in you , he must love you very much , hope it turns out ok and you can talk him into waiting till its legal xx
