  if it was well known in the congregation and some elders knew also , if she had the affair before she got baptised with a disfellowshipped man would she not have to tell her husband before she got baptised ?

  sorry all , really did not make that very clear , it was not me (honest) the lady in question had an affair with a relative of her husbands, before she went to meetings , the relative she had th eaffair with was also married to a baptised sister , baptised sister told the elders of her husbands affair aswell as others in the congregation , so when the lady in question started coming to meetings and eventually got baptised i presumed she would have had to tell her jw husband what she had done , is it possible that nobody dare tell him because he has a reputation for being violent ?

  i've been a lurker on the forum for a while and wanted to finally register and post something.

  i'm 23 years old, and was born and raised a jw.

  i've been out "officially" now for about a year, although i've really been out since i was 16.

  welcome newbie in florida , i went to west palm beach once , best hol i ver had ! there are good and bad in this old world just like in the kingdom hall , take things really slow , a lot of disfellowshippd i know did the rebelling bit that they should have done in their teen years to late when they escaped the cult and went totally off the rails , and you can still lead a moral life and not be a dub despite what you have been programmed to think

  i came to this site initially to research about jehovahs witnesses.and oboy what i learnt.

  goodbye to that believe system.. but was it really necessary that i also now no longer see the bible as the word of god ?..and am turning athiest...?.

  i always had a faith in god , even though my parents were not religious , then i met the dubs and felt it was based more on pleasing people ie elders and keeping up appearences than god , when i left i go my faith back !

  i was told not to even look at them when i studied, but i did not buy the satan stuff about them and said well what have the watchtower got to worry about if they have the truth and no skeletons in the closet ?

  i was quite tempted to speak to them and felt rude and judgemental , what did you used to think about them when you were dubs in the trufff ?

  a lot of ex dubs i know have said they did not enjoy it at all , and i certainly got the impression it was more of a duty than a privelidge by ones who are still in it , they even asked if they could use me to get thier time in !!!

  at work .

  i used to think to myself that at least the born agains look as though they actually enjoy worshipping god considering they are serving satan !!!!!!

  how on earth can bringing reproach on the orgs name be a reason not to protect children from abuse ? if they reported every case of child abuse reported to the police they would have a much better reputation among worldly people aswell as thier own members , but then i suppose they would not be able to boast to eachother about how differnt thier org is to theo other wicked religions in the world , i suppose thats why they have to keep a lid on the problem to stop dubs leaving in thier thousands and keep filling thier heads with those fake "im so happy since i became a witness" stories in the watchtower !!!

  i also know another lady in a different cong that knew an elder was dodgy but nobody would listen to her , he was eventually caught in a very dodgy situation with his 3 year old neice , and believe it or not he was not dissfellowshipped or reported to the police but the childs mother was for gossipping !!!!!there is much more to this ladys sad story but i dont feel its my place to repeat it , it is so sad and unfair
