this lady is quite new to my workplace and we got chatting and she asked how i met my husband etc ... after i finished telling her of my jw experiances she said i could write a book and i really should ! she said she has a friend who shes known for 30 years and she became a jw about 15 years ago and this friend had recently deleted her off her friends list ! she also said this friend likes to play bingo which she presumed wouldnt be allowed in the religion so had thought it cant be all that strict in that religion !!!!! lol i told her that her friend should perhaps be more worried about getting caught playing bingo than having a worldly friend on her facebook ! does anyone still in know if jws are told to not have worldlys on their friends list ?

Feeling Lost
by faundy ini used to come on this site a lot more but drifted away.
the thing is that recently, i've been thinking a lot more about my life, and its lack of direction, and purpose.
i'm in a good relationship, i have great friends and support if i need it.

hi faundy , what do you do for a living ? i know just what you mean and do you know what helped me ? i started looking after people with profound learning disabilities that need literally everything doing for them , my heart really goes out to them and had really put my problems into perspective , i feel more spiritual nowadays than feel the need for a religion in my life and i enjoy giving someone much less fortunate than us something to smile about the rewards are amazing ! why not try it ? its made me appreciate life more despite the jw problems that will always be there but are now less important to me (usually !) good luck xx (im in uk too )

i have finally decided to "give up " on jw family !
by looloo inmy inlaws have now not visited my child of 7 for more than 2 years since we moved a half hour drive away as i didnt want to live in the same town as my other childs abuser (an ex min servant ) after he was released from prison !
they only visited once and i made it clear that they were welcome anytime as they left , since then they havnt bothered but have told people that i dont allow them to see my child , which is not true .
my mother in law tried to give some money to my child recently through her disfellowshipped son but he asked "why ?

thanks all so much for your support (again ) i have finally come to the conclusion that in some cases you are better off having no contact with family and as my daughter is such a sensetive little child the emotional damage they could do to her could be horrendous , as last night when i started to kiss her good night she started to cry and said " you are so pretty mummy i cant bare the thought of you dying " so i told her about heaven and such like and it calmed her down , they could really mess her head up !

Hello
by Chariklo ini am new to this site, just finding my way around.. i've been studying with jw's for about 15 months.
i'm an unbaptised publisher, and until recently never missed a meeting, have been out "on the service" quite a lot.
i've been having difficulties with one of the jw's studying with me and something happened which was just unacceptable.

hi there , i wish i had the internet years ago when i was a study and had my doubts like you have now , my daughter may have not been raped as a 13 year old by an ex min servant that had abused in the congregation before but had not been reported to the police then ! please get out of it now , i had all the "your doing so well " stuff said to me also they were all fake friends though just obeying orders . good luck xx

Your View of Holidays and Their Origins
by headisspinning ini am very curious about something... for those of you who have left the organization but still follow the bible and consider yourself christian... what holidays and celebrations have you embraced?.
how do you rationalize celebrating despite your knowledge of 'pagan' origins?.
i was born and raised a jw so it would seem really strange for me to start celebrating christmas or hallowe'en or easter - maybe mother's or father's day wouldn't be such a stretch - but i would really like to hear your thoughts and the conclusions you've come to.. but i have to say i never got a satisfying answer as to why jws aren't allowed to celebrate birthdays - the explanation that it promotes greed or selfishness or that the only record in the bible of birthday celebrations involved murder - none of these really cut it for me.. thanks - his .

hi there , do you celebrate your wedding anniversary ? because i believe weddings and rings have pagan origins ! that was one thing that helped me stop feeling guilty about celebrating the birth of christ , his reserection along with the arrival of some choclate eggs to hunt in the garden from the easter bunny ! i just dont take things so seriously now , last year was the 1st time i actually even saw halloween as just some harmless kids fun (i havnt been to a meeting for about 14 years !) but halloween was one thing i could not do untill last year when my little girl was upset that all her school frinds were knocking on the door dressed up but i hadnt got her an outfit for halloween for her ! next year she will do it also wth my blessing as it is just harmless fun and nothing to do with evil at all ! i have had a lot of pleasure seeing her hunt for easter eggs from the easter bunny and it makes me sad that my older children missed out on all this fun . by the way my little girl loves reading her childrens bible (from school ) and loves god ! (not due to any brain washing from me either , its just the way she is !)

Informally witnessing to a witness !
by man in black inthis was pretty neat !.
an elderly lady who lives behind us lost her husband to cancer two years ago.
she has been doing alright, her two grown sons have been helping her out a lot.

i dont think witnesses do good deeds for worldly people out of kindness just a need to give "a good witness " to score points for jehovah !
