many of us believe the days of the watchower society may be numbered.
they are receiving an unprecedented amount of well deserved negative publicity.
however, they are still experiencing modest growth.
I just wanted to bump this because I think it relates to some of the thoughts on this thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/150690/1.ashx on News from the Mother ship. Does anyone have some ideas on how to take advantage of possible, unexpected events in the WTS leadership.
1. bethel in ny suspect high level apostate, cant identify it but know its there.
2. major organizational changes about to start rolling out, one is changes to the "service committee" and titles, po to be done away with, thats all i know for now.
was told that if you are the sort of person that cant handle changes, you wont stay in the org for long.
If the trigger event wasn't the handling of pedofiles in the orginization what would be classified as a "trigger event"? There's loads of stuff that should be considered trigger event that doesn't actually trigger anything. The generation change, the blood doctrine change, the aforementioned silent lambs scandal, I'm just curious if those aren't big enough, what will be?
Good questions, but a trigger event doesn't have to be big. It just has to be big enough to push a system over a threshold at the proper time. The things you mentioned are causing stress and confusion in the society. Who knows when the straw that breaks the camels back will come? It could easily be something internal like the shifting of loyalties of a single influential person.

Those guys got some kind of consent from GB members (some of whom have already died now) to further study and research the material as long as they would stay faithful to the org. It is possible that this fragile construct recently collapsed....
Just another example of how inconsistent they are. Lowly dubs would be disfellowshipped for this, but they were probably worried about the fallout if they expelled high ranking members.
i'm a bit confused.
i've been worried that i'm going to be df for apostacy because i no longer believe core jw teachings.
i don't have an intention on protesting or strirring things up, but i'm worried because i will not lie to elders if they ask me what i think about things (in a shepherding call).
However. if, after such extended efforts have been put forth to readjust his thinking, he continues to believe the apostate ideas and rejects what he has been provided through the 'slave class,' then appropriate judicial action should be taken.
This sounds like forced conversion, as defined in wikipedia, "A forced conversion is the conversion to a religion or philosophy under duress, with the threatened consequence of earthly penalties or harm. These consequences range from job loss and social isolation to incarceration, torture or death. Typically, such a conversion entails the repudiation of former religious or philosophical convictions.A forced conversion is the conversion to a religion or philosophy under duress, with the threatened consequence of earthly penalties or harm. You either have to change your belief or face social isolation. This is a clear violation of fundamental human rights.
do you know that anyone who opposes the watchtower society has unforgivably sinned against the holy spirit?.
those who fight jehovahs visible organization, upon which his spirit is manifest, sin against the holy spirit, unforgivably so.. .
june 1, 1952 watchtower magazine page 349 paragraph 26
I feel bad for the Apostle Paul. He did all that work to spread the good news and didn't even realise that his earlier persecution couldn't be forgiven. I guess that means that all his letters were apostate literature.

I was shocked to learn that you can be disfellowshipped for apostate thoughts. I remember getting counsel that if you disagreed about something, just don't make a big deal about it and wait on Jehovah. The understanding could change in the future. They never told me that you can be disfellowshipped for this, but it's in the confidential letters to the elders. These contradictory policies allow them to minimise problems by doing what's best for them at the time.
I'm really mad about this because I did disagree with some of their current understandings. I didn't try to impose my views on others and thought I was being consistent with the society guidelines. If I had known that I was an apostate by their secret standards, I would have known that I was in cult much earlier. Jehovah's Witnesses need to know how strict their definition of apostasy is.
sorry if this has already been mentioned, but what we need to do is get 145,000 disfellowshipped and or apostate ex witnesses to attend the next memorial and partake in the wine and bread.. what a hoot!!!.
that will get the bethel calculators going overtime.
fred www.isnrblog.com.
I doubt that they count people they don't know except as attenders. But it might be fun for a large group to attend at one hall and partake. Can you imagine them having to repeatedly refill the wine glasses?
i still can't understand what they would have to gain by being a un ngo.
some say status and others say they could gain monitarily, things to be investigated.
the staus and influence theory does make some sense.
Keep asking questions. I don't think we have a satisfactory answer on the motives behind the UN controversy or what they are doing with all their money. We need to keep digging. It's easy to come up with wild conspiracy theories and easy to dismiss them. However ,it may turn out that the truth is something we would consider hard to believe now. I think we need to ask difficult questions, use a healthy measure of skepticism, but avoid being too dismissive of ideas that may seem implausible.
well, it's late.
i need to go to sleep, got home from work, but i thought i started a newbie thread why not a thread for those who have been on the board a long time , or for awhile now ?
so, lay it on me, what are your concerns for jwd ?
Good discussion. I would like a home link, perhaps in the options section. (I know you can get there by clicking on the upper left picture, but it doesn't say home and is surrounded by ads.) My first experiences with JWD was finding individual discussions through Google searches. I did a little reading and then continued my research elsewhere. It was months before I stumbled onto the home page and realised what a great resource JWD is.
One of my concerns is making JWD more popular or at least easier to find. I hope more of us can link to JWD if we have blogs or websites. (PM me if you need any technical help.) I wonder if it would help JWD in the search engines if we used fewer abbreviations for important keywords like Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower, etc. I don't know if it would be worth it, but it might be worth considering. I'm trying to do this when it occurs to me. Maybe it would even be worthwhile to have a series of topics that are geared towards newbies and lurkers, where there is less debate and more of a pooling of information and links on important topics like blood, 1914, false prophecies, etc. These topics might do very well in the search engines and could be a good introduction to JWD.
